Justin Long may soon be back on the small screen. The actor has been cast in a new soccer pilot by ABC. The series, currently titled Dream Team, will see Long as a coach that is trying to duplicate his rise to the top with a brand new team.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed the following about Long’s role on the comedy:
“The project revolves around Marty Schumacher, who coached his last club soccer team for 10 years, ultimately taking them to the national championships. He now has to start from scratch with a diverse group of 8-year-olds and their disparate parents. Long will star as Marty, who is the eternally optimistic manager of a sporting goods store and also the “damn good” head coach of a nationally ranked soccer program — the one true love in his life. Currently recruiting young girls for his dream team, Marty is looking to re-create his amazing rise to the national championship of two years ago.”
This series will feature Michael Mosley, Lindsey Kraft, and Michelle Buteau as parents of potential players. The series is being written by Kari Lizer and Bill Wrubel, who were previously involved with Will & Grace.
