canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Drive: FOX Series Cancelled But Will Return

by Trevor Kimball, May 8, 2007

The cast of Drive on FOXFOX pulled the Tim Minear action series Drive off the air after only two weeks and four episodes due to low ratings. The network had given the series a truckload of promotion but, for whatever reason, the series didn’t catch on — at least as quickly as FOX would have liked. Would the series ever return?

FOX has announced that Drive will be returning to primetime. Unfortunately it will be a one-time event. The network will run the unaired fifth and sixth episodes of Drive on July 4th — one of the least-watched nights of regular television. They’re also calling them the “final episodes” which means the show has indeed been cancelled and viewers have no chance of ever seeing the race’s conclusion.

True fans might want to visit the Tim Minear website where they can read the scripts of the first four episodes of Drive. But beware of spoilers — due to some editing changes, some scenes in the episodes three and four scripts were shifted to appear in later episodes. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the site will post scripts for unfilmed episodes sometime in the future. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

Update: The episodes have since been rescheduled to air on Friday, July 13th.

umms i agree with most of you guys, but its not just fox doing it, every station ive noticed had at least one show that didnt finish, like The nine, DayBreak, and a few more this season, but they should post the last episodes online like the other companys like cbs and nbc

I can’t believe you cancelled Drive. I searched for weeks before checking online & geting the bad news. I had been telling everyone to watch for it, but too late. Fox would have led the way out of the overabundance of Reality shows & had something worth watching, with a great story line. Hopefully, another network will see it’s potential & pick it up & Fox can go to the bottom of the pile. Also, Nathan Fillion is great & so is the cast. I wouldn’t change anyone.

It doesnt even make sense to me to spend all that money on advertising a show then not even giving it a chance to get popular. Fox must have spent millions of dollars on advertising and a bunch more on producing it then only showed like 3 hours, the least they should have done was taken it off prime time and just aired it later at night or possibly a couple hours earlyer.

Utterly insane that this show was canceled, hopefully if enough people watch it on the 13th they will re-negotiate the contract; which would do the show justice as it has one of the best actresses (Melanie Lynsky) in it.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS IS OVER. I WAITED AND WAITED TO WATCH THIS FOR WEEKS, FOLLOWING THE BIG HIPE. I LOVED THIS SHOW AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD GO ON. I NEVER DREAMED YOU WOULD CANCEL IT. THIS SHOW HAD HUGE POTENTIAL HUGE. I DON’T WANT TO SEE JUST TWO MORE SHOWS I WANT TO SEE IT UNTIL THE END. AT LEAST MAKE IT A MINI SERIES. COME ON GUYS THAT IS LIKE TAKING CANDY FROM A BABY. IT IS ABUSE. ABUSE TO ALL OF US WHO WATCHED. DON’T WE DESERVE TO SEE THE END????

i agree with the comments regarding DRIVE .. and how FOX wont let a show develop to its potential.. i suppose its a ratings biz and it seems the majority outway the minority.. some words of advice for FOX i beleive that LOST took some time for development and following and if they had patience and soem audience appreciation i beleive drive would have developed a good following.. they did the same with vanished.. Fox it seems is begining to leave a bitter and sour taste.

I never even heard of Drive, but the guy who introduced me to Firefly(great) talks wonders about it. i don’t plan to watch Drive at all after reading all these comments because I really don’t want to invest 5 hours into something I might fall in love with. I think, and I’m dead serious, the fans of this show should sue FOX for emotional distress or something like that. I’m sure there is a lawyer out there that would take the case if enough people got together. Wouldn’t it make amazing news. Think about it. -someone who never got the… Read more »

What a load of happy horse-sh*t.
Can’t believe Drive could be cancelled after 4eps. Fox, why bother investing time and bucks into shooting an entire hour of your new shows….play it safe and create 10 minute trailers, then you can justify cancellation.
Fox, you are so lame. Oh, and House really sucks….so much hyperbole…..

REQUEST:
Drive episodes on DVD (full version of course)! and retail them! $40-$100 is reasonable for me!
Drive was the best show and hard to believe it had low ratings!
It was something that my wife and I marked on the calender and to do list! A guy show that girls could relate to and vice versa!! Come on FOX with all that money what is a couple more shows on tv or some dvd sets for people that are requesting!!!

Thanks~
Omar
