NBC has reportedly cancelled their new Emerald City TV series before a single episode was even filmed.
The network ordered 10 episodes of the new series without seeing a pilot first. The executive producers are Matthew Arnold (who wrote the pilot script) and Josh Friedman (who’s been running the writers room). Apparently NBC execs and Friedman had disagreements over the direction of the project and the network’s now decided not to move forward with the series.
Universal Television still believes in the series however and supposedly plans to shop it elsewhere.
When the show was announced in May, NBC described it this way: “Desperate for clues that will lead to the identity of her biological mother, a young woman breaks into a sinister underground facility somewhere in the Midwest. Unable to complete her mission and surrounded by security, our feisty heroine steals a K9 police dog and drives away into the night… and headlong into the path of a raging tornado. In the blink of an eye, she is transported to another world, one far removed from our own – a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you’ve never seen before, where wicked witches don’t stay dead for long and 20-year-old Dorothy Gale becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands. You’re not in Kansas anymore, and this is not your Grandmother’s Oz.”

So an executive temper tantrum has doomed our viewing pleasure… hmmm, it’s usually the corporate bean counters that are the Clueless Imbeciles to blame…. I wish we could just take ALL the beans, and throw them into the eternal flaming pits of Hell.. from whence they came…
I am completely devastated that NBC decided to cancel Emerald City. My husband and I love the show looking forward for it to continue in another network or hopeful that Netflix will put it on streaming.

Stay in South Africa. We dont have a varioty of tv series. There is a couple of shows overseas that is very interesting to look at. Emerald City and whisperers is two of to of the fews. Just where the interesting part of the end of a season and wonder when is the next season been show, you hear the season is been canceld.
We loved Emerald City, I did have to watch it on ondemand, since it was on past my bedtime, but the plot kept you on your toes, I loved it and got my husband hooked on it as well, Please please someone pick it up. This serious is not smutty, it lets you know things are going on, but you do not get to see it, which I love. I am tired of not having anything to watch on TV besides smut programs
I loved Emerald City!!! Please someone pick it up! Not only is the story line compelling and fresh, the acting and sets are amazing! It will be a classic if someone gives the show a chance!

Watched the show and loved it. It’s different , not the same junk. I knew NBC would cancel. They never give anything a shot. I loved Grimm too. Please someone else pick it up!!!
