Click your heels together three times and make a wish, Oz fans. EPs Shaun Cassidy and David Schulner are ready, willing, and able to make a second season of the Emerald City TV show, should NBC choose to take them up on it. The first 10-episode limited season concluded its run on Friday, March 3rd, with the finale episode, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
A limited event series, Emerald City starred Adria Arjona, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, Joely Richardson, and Vincent D’Onofrio. Isabel Lucas, Roxy Sternberg, Stefanie Martini, Rebeka Rea, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson recurred on the NBC fantasy drama, based on the Oz novels by L. Frank Baum.
EPs Ready to Make Emerald City Season Two for NBC
Every week during Emerald City‘s network run, the duo has discussed behind-the-scenes happenings and explained the details of the new NBC TV series with Entertainment Weekly. This week, they shared their thoughts in the form of a thank you note. In it, Cassidy and Schulner indicated they’d love to make more of the fantasy drama. Here’s more from EW.com.
As you have seen in our finale, “No Place Like Home” (written by David Schulner and Josh Carlebach), this story has now ended, but a new one lies ahead. Should NBC choose to make another limited series based on Baum’s characters, David and I would welcome the opportunity. If not, know that this has been one of the most fulfilling experiences either of us has enjoyed, and we remain humbled by all of our brilliant creative partners who made this show so exceptional.
With gratitude to all of you,
Shaun Cassidy & David Schulner

Emerald City: A Look at the Season One Ratings
While Cassidy and Schulner would love to make a new season of Emerald City, what are the odds NBC will want one? Well, we think they’re about as low as the show’s ratings in season one.
In its first season, the Emerald City TV show averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 3.027 million viewers. As of today, those numbers mean the show is 17th out of The Peacock Network’s 17 scripted shows we’re tracking, when sorted by their demo numbers.
When sorted by total viewers, Emerald City rises just one notch to 16th place, in terms of audience size — beating out only the new sitcom, Powerless. In fact, even when compared to NBC’s non-scripted (i.e. less expensive to produce) programming, Emerald City‘s numbers leave it at the bottom of the barrel. Only Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon is a weaker Nielsen performer.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season on NBC? Do you think the Emerald City TV show will be cancelled or renewed for season two?
Please don’t cancel this show. I found the characters wonderfully multi-faceted and I want to see more. I am not usually a watcher of series programs, have been more of a news junkie, with a equally strong true crime viewer. But I loved the take on one of my favorite stories. I also love the diversity of actors in the cast.
Please bring it back!!!! I absolutely love this show and how unique it is from the original Wizard of Oz. You left us hanging, we need to know what happens!!!
Please make a season two. This version of Emerald City is amazing and I love it, the plot the climax is perfect. Can’t wait for the next season.
LOVE the show! I think it just has poor marketing, its a great show, but I dont think people realize – Season 2 please!
It should be on Sunday nights, its better than once upon a time.
They also were airing it on Friday nights weren’t they? No wonder it was lower than expected…. I hope it comes back for season 2 toooooo!
Love the show. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Great actions and suspense.
I loved Emerald City, it had a game of thrones vibe mixed with once once upon time. We definitely need a second season of Emerald City . If this next season does great it might be able compete with once upon time TV series.
I love this show, season 2 is a must! I’m a binge watcher. I’d rather wait a year for the next ten episodes than wait week to week but I pulsar wait for them all to come out, it was just too good. It’s the best show I’ve watched in a very long time and I’ll be just crushed if it doesn’t get renewed!
Please renew Emerald City a brilliant adaptation of The Wizard of Oz with a brilliant cast that made you want to follow along on the journey! We need more of this brilliant show NBC!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I would love to see a second season of Emerald City!
This show is seriously too amazing not to have a 2nd season. The show can’t possibly end like that!
I NEED season two of EMERALD CITY, Most Wondrous and Beautiful.
One of the best shows I’ve seen in quite some time. It’s The Wizard of Oz meets Game of Thrones. Bing watched the whole season. Went right to google to check on season 2. As with all the others, I truly hope for more seasons, if it isn’t in the clouds, then thank you for a season that opened my imagination and brought back that child that loved the classic.
Loved this show Great staging & imagination looked forward to watching w/ my kids – bad time lot and the demographic should be broader intreging and nonviolent enough for 10yr olds – but a pleasure for 40+ with memories of wizard of Oz, OZ & Wicked Needs more promotion – GET A SECOND SEAON OUT THERE
I LOVE this show!! I am so disappointed that Grimm is ending and was excited at a potential replacement. I will say if there is NO Grimm & NO emerald City, I’ll have to move on to Netflix.
This is one of the most refreshing shows I’ve seen on TV in years. I think maybe NBC should move the show to give it a better chance of capturing new viewers.
If they do decide to cancel it, I hope another network like The CW will pick it up.
I’m so sick of Cops, Docs and Lawyers.
I love Emerald city…please don’t leave us hanging
