Last summer, CBS had high hopes for Extant but the show didn’t do very well in the ratings. They renewed it (in part becuase of a streaming deal with Amazon) but a lot of changes were made behind and in front of the camera. Were the changes a good idea? Will Extant be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
Extant, began when astronaut Molly Woods (Halle Berry) returned to Earth after a year-long solo mission in outer space. Her reunion with her family is thrown into turmoil when it’s learned that she’s pregnant. This season, the cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Pierce Gagnon, Grace Gummer, and David Morrissey.

For comparisons: The first season of Extant averaged a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.15 million viewers.

I’m a sci fi fan. Extant fits the bill for me. I rarely watch television but am captivated by the “what if” of shows such as Extant. If the dollars or viewers aren’t there, I understand why it needs to be canceled but it leaves its loyal viewers in limbo and that is unacceptable!
If a series has been on for at least two years, could the networks please give the show one more season to wrap things up so that we as viewers are not left hanging. It’s not supposed to be just about the dollars… Or is it?
I hope there is a safe and reasonable enough reason for canceling the show. Cause the motive was/is very open minded and it attracts the mind to think. Well I’m looking forward to more televised naturalising from her. Good luck to all the other actresses/actors as well.love her number one fan

We like it, and will miss it if cancelled. Not at heartbreak level, though, like Wayward Pines.
