TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
They cancelled this show too? What on earth is going on. This was a brilliant refreshing show.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS PROGRAM!! You keep the junk and get rid of programs that the people enjoy and follow. This is well written and the actors work well together. We especially enjoy Judd Hirsch & Ioan Gruffudd. Please reconsider. Give this program a chance.
.
i DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN CANCEL A SHOW LIKE THIS, BUT CONTINUE TO RUN SHOWS SUCH AS FRESH OFF THE BOAT AND BLACKISH. JUST DOESN’T MAKE WANT TO WATCH ANYTHING ON ABC
I am so DISAPPOINTED that this show will not coming back. This is why I don’t watch tv anymore everytime I find a show to race home from work for they take it off. If I knew how to tweet I would be the number one tweeter to keep this show. I am a busy mother of four and a full time student and full time work but I found the time to enjoy a show I love. Please bring the back!!!!!!! #SaveForever
I think ABC was crazy to cancel this show. I’ve re-watched all the episodes; it’s wonderfult
Those people are nuts over at ABC. They cannot UNDERSTAND (duh) that because they make money on those ridiculous “reality” shows (apparently), they should just show them, and damned be the quality of the programming on their network. They are being left in the dust as it is with all the cable channels, etc., so you’d think they’d at least TRY to put on some good shows that we can all enjoy without seeing sex and violence, not to mention stupidity, that is the usual fare.
you’re nuts to have cancelled it
This is a great show. I watched it religiously. I think it is original and quirky and has great acting and the episodes are clever and interesting. I hate it when good shows are not given the chance to take hold or pick up a following. I don’t watch much on network TV but I did watch this one and really liked it. Shame on ABC.
I absolutely agree. Forever was my favorite show last season on all networks. I REALLY hope that it is picked up by another network, I would even pay for a premium station to see what comes next. I hope that season 1 comes out on DVD soon!
If it comes out on DVD, they’re going to make a bundle on it. I’d love to have it, especially if we can’t get a second season.
Those actors are so good, it has a great premise, and lots of story to tell. I love Lucas and how he tries to be “buds” with Henry. So funny.
You sure do get it wrong. Forever was one of the best tv shows out there!
Great show, heart warming stories….this show needed to stick around at least one more season.
Great show ….. too bad!
“Forever” will be sorely missed. In our opinion, it was one of the best shows on television. Compelling characters, very well acted and always interesting plot lines. Big mistake to lose it. We are seriously bummed. The network decision-makers screw it up again!
Love the show and the the people they played. Don’t let the show die
I saw the whole season and it looks like they planned to end it with the last one as the loose ends were wrapped up. So I know it won’t be renewed as they were really finished with it. But it was interesting how the lead actor didn’t think it should have stopped at that point. The powers that be didn’t notify the cast?
Actually, it was NOT wrapped up at all. If you watched the whole season, you’d see that it left us with a cliffhanger where Jo was going to possibly find out Henry’s secret.
Love the show. Wish it would come back.
I loved this show I’m so disappointed that it was cancelled, it seems every show I like is cancelled.
I am deeply heartbroken to lose such a delicately nuanced show. The actors were sublime, the story premise was clever and charming, and to lose it just as it found its heart was gutting. I think ABC acted rashly by cancelling Forever when they allow dreck that has no storytelling value to continue for season after season. Please reconsider…do as CBS did with UNFORGETABLE…give it at least one or two more seasons, even if they are summer seasons, then offer it to Netflix or Yahoo….this show and these actors deserve better.
Well said, Stacy! Warner Bros. is shopping “FOREVER” to various networks, including Netflix, TNT, and HULU. Hopefully, it will be picked up soon for another season. So many of us fans are echoing your sentiments, as we grieve the (temporary) loss of this wonderful show and its incredible actors/characters. #SaveForever
ABC had a truly great show in “Forever” with a great cast, story arch and wonderful writers and they threw it all away. Could we really build enough pressure to get another network to pick up the show? I would so like to see how Henry explains his condition to Jo and how she responds to it and is Adam’s condition permanent or does he recover from it?
