TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please keep this show. It is one of the best there is. I watch it every week.
I absolutely LOVE this show!! It has SO much imagination, and, of course, given the fact that one of the characters in it is over 2,000 years old, there can be an almost infinite number of interesting historical time periods to draw from. Also, since Henry and “Adam” are both “afflicted” with immortality, there could easily be other characters incorporated into the story lines to create even more intrigue and clues as to why they are the way they are, etc. I also love the characters (and let’s face it, “Henry” is HOT!!), and think it’s an exceptionally well acted… Read more »
This show is excellent. The acting is great. The show has depth, reflection, action, tension. The writing is top notch. Story lines weave and unfold as well as move forward in “real” time. This show is a keeper. I watch each ep a few times to observe and appreciate the story lines. It is a pleasure. Yes, yes, keep this show on the air. It is one of the top 3 shows currently on.
I love this show. Its like CSI meets Supernatural. Please continue the series.
LOVE this show!!! Interesting plot, gorgeous star, fantastic writing. Can’t believe it is on the endangered list. Who is running ABC these days?
This is an interesting series. My husband and I are really hoping that this show continues. It has great story lines and the characters are beginning to mature. Please keep it! When is the next show?
All my friends watch Henry each week Love the story line MORE!!!!PLEASE Freshest new series on TV
Love this show, different
MAIN star great. Don’t cancel.
I LOVE this show. It should continue for at least another season. Doesn’t seem to me to need the 9PM showing time. Move it to a time and day where it doesn’t have so much competition and it should do well in the ratings. I’m a baby boomer who enjoys the story line and the characters. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy this show (Cleveland OH via New Orleans LA), & watch it with my sister (Winsted CT) every single week. Hope ABC renews it for next season, and if not, hope TNT or USA pick it up. d.c.w.
Hi, David Wolf ! Had to respond to your post. I’m in Bristol, CT and my family, the Fanchers, are all from Winsted, CT, too. Don’t know how old/young you are but I am 72 and am absolutely IN LOVE with the ABC series, “FOREVER” ! I lived on Wallens Hill in Barkhamsted and went to Northwestern Regional. Graduated in 1961. Have lived in Bristol since 1964 but still have lots of family in Winsted area. My Aunt Pauline Fancher was the Art Teacher there for MANY years until her retirement. She is 104 years old ! Sorry to ramble… Read more »
Reply to MaryAnn Dumond – I saw your name & thought because it is French we might be related, but alas, I think not. My 7 brothers & sisters & I grew up in New Orleans, and my sister that lives in CT moved there to get married (now divorced). Their family name is Davey. 6 Degrees of Separation & all that – we probably do know or are related to some people somewhere! We do have our enjoyment in common though of the show Forever – sure do hope it returns next season! Thank you for the note –… Read more »
Hi, David Wolf. Thanks for responding. You’re from a beautiful and charming state. I have visited N.O. and enjoyed it a lot. Well, we’ll just keep sharing our love of “FOREVER” and stay hopeful that ABC renews for more seasons. It really is the best series they’ve had in a long time. Happy viewing to you and your sister !
I love, love, LOVE this show. I found it by accident and would be very sad if it is not picked up for another season, and another one after that, etc. The last show that caught my attention was the Kathy Bates show and it was cancelled. Please tell me Forever will survive.
I found this drama series totally by accident. Love the show! Give it a chance….
Ioan Gruffudd is terrific, and good looking to boot! The show has a great ensemble cast.
Was glad to see Joel David Moore had found a new ‘gig’ in the ME’s Dept.He was one of my favorite ‘squints’ on Bones.
Alana de la Garza, a CSI Miami alum is a pleasure to watch, and the unusual relationsip between Abe (Judd Hirsch) and his never aging father Henry… provides an intriguing
story line. Please give this series time to develop an audience!
Well said.
For myself and my spouse we wait each week and watch the show as soon as it recorded. Sorry but we long ago stopped watching any “commercial content”.
We both like the show and its has a greayt chemistry between “father and son”
It should be allowed to continue developing story lines long and short.
This ones a definite keeper.
I love this show, and I hope it is renewed for another season.
My husband and I (both senior citizens) think this is one of the BEST shows on TV! We NEVER miss it. Hope it continues for many more seasons! LOVE the characters and story lines. Casting directors did a marvelous job of linking actors with characters!
