Will Goliath have a second season? Recently, creator David E. Kelley spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the Amazon series.
From David E. Kelley, the legal drama stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer who takes on the major corporate firm he helped create. The cast also includes Maria Bello, William Hurt, Olivia Thirlby, Sarah Wynter, and Molly Parker.
In the interview, Kelley said he’s okay with the show only running one season:
Well, we originally thought three years, that would be great. It could go more; it could go less. But if we were told, “OK, you can only have one year, here’s the deal, one year and one year only,” that would have been fine with us. We had a story to tell over eight episodes, and we wanted to tell it and if that gives rise to year two — and we certainly hope it does because we have another to tell behind it — that’s great. As television has evolved, I think one of the great positives is that the short form is flourishing. I just did a one-off seven-hour series for HBO [Big Little Lies], we did this [over] eight hours on Amazon. And they both conceivably can go to year two or year three, but if it’s only year one, there’s closure at the end of them and I think it has currency and value even as a one-year project. And we’re seeing more of that on both cable and streaming things. Shows don’t have to be designed to run in perpetuity. If there’s a show that’s viable for one season or two seasons or three seasons, those stories are worth telling too.”
That being said, he also mentioned there is a plan for season two:
It would definitely be a new case. There are other cases that come behind it. So if we’re lucky, we’ll get to go on to year two.”

This show deserves a second season. There are several loose ends that could be elaborated upon. What happens with Brittany Gold? Did she have more to tell Billy about her deal with Callie Senate? Is there the possibility of rekindled feelings between Billy and his ex-wife? Does his relationship with his daughter flourish?The death of Carl Stoltz could be incorporated into Billy’s further investigations, and he could find out if Cooperman was directly responsible for Rachel’s murder. absolutely fabulous all 8 episodes didn’t want it to end, please do more. heartfelt, and suspensful. David Kelly is the best.
I just stumbled on this show – it is wonderful. How about a little advertising to help ratings and get Goliath back for seasons 2 and 3.

This show is on par with The Sopranos. Definitely would like to see season two.
Yes! I kept thinking how I haven’t been as riveted by any show as much since Sopranos.
I found this series by accident well, because there was nothing else on the 300 channels I have.
I can say with ease that this is the best writing & acting from all concerned I have seen in a series for years, proper meaty to the point show. More! More!
Favorite show of the season… billy bob is incredible… Nina Ariana was spectacular… and the story was absolutely compelling… loved it!! Hoping that they’ll be another season
