As the writer’s strike continues, casting is certainly slowing down. Some projects may be delayed or even cancelled as a result of the strike. If they’re not on the picket line, here’s where you’ll be able to find some of your favorite performers from the shows of yesteryear.
David Chokachi (Baywatch) stars in the Sci Fi Channel movie Bats: Human Harvest that premieres this weekend. He also recently filmed an independent fantasy-adventure movie called The Dreamless. He plays a treasure hunter who’s hired to find a powerful amulet. The film’s producer is currently seeking a distributor.
TV Guide is reporting that Gina Torres (Standoff, Firefly) has been cast to play the ex-wife of Darling family nemesis, Simon Elder (Blair Underwood) on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money. The role was originally intended to be a recurring one but that may not happen because of the writers’ stike.
Bruce Greenwood (John from Cincinnati) has been signed to play Christopher Pike in the upcoming Star Trek film. If you remember your Trek history, Pike captained the Enterprise prior to James T. Kirk. In related news, Winona Ryder has been hired to play the mother of young Spock (Heroes’ Zachary Quinto). The film’s scheduled to be released Christmas 2008.
Brooke Nevin (Animorphs) is scheduled to appear on two ABC series. Look for her to play a cheerleader in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Then, she’ll guest in an episode of Eli Stone, a new series expected to begin airing midseason.
Danny Pino (The Shield, currently Cold Case) will star opposite Charlize Theron in the upcoming The Burning Plain. The film will be shot in New Mexico and is being directed by Guillermo Arriaga.
Dr. Kildare star Richard Chamberlain will guest star on the November 25th episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives. He’ll play Lynette’s long lost stepfather.
Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars, Just Shoot Me!) is filming a guest spot on CBS’ Numb3rs. He’s playing a surveillance specialist who gets a little paranoid and takes a hostage. The episode is expected to air in mid-December. Stay tuned!
