Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations.
“We would like to thank Alex Ferrer as well as executive producer Kathy Sapp and the entire staff for producing a strong daytime court program,” said Brown in a statement. “Alex’s extensive police, legal and judicial experience combined with his great sense of humor made for compelling daytime television for nearly 10 years.”
Judge Alex debuted on September 12, 2005 and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge.
The series is the lowest-rated of the five remaining court shows and will continue airing original episodes through August.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ferrer said, “It was not my decision to end the show. I enjoyed doing the show and would keep doing it but, for many reasons, the company that produces the show wanted to move on. I am grateful that I was able to work with really amazing people like my EP Kathy Sapp and Associate EP’s Tera Roberson and James Glover; Directors Eddie October, Michael Dimitch and Art Bergel; Bailiffs Mason Burroughs & Victor Simon, my makeup, hair and wardrobe help that changed me from hideous to tolerable; incredible producers and associate producers who found great cases for me to try and so many others in our 100 person staff and crew who made the show a success. I’m also grateful to have so many great fans and friends, many of whom I got to meet; and I’m sure that I’ll still get to meet more of you at other events.”
He also hinted that he may return to television at some point in the future.
What do you think? Did you like Judge Alex? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled?
Loved Judge Alex. He was a nice change of pace from some of the other court shows!!
I had to google where the judge was. I am so sorry and sad that they cancelled it.Please bring him back because his fans miss him
I, to, didn’t know Judge Alex was cancelled, until I searched the web. However, that being said, I do not watch ‘Divorce Court’ anymore, either. It shouldn’t be titled that anymore. This magistrate’s cases, are all about reconciling. The show should be called, “Reconcile Court.” She rarely grants a divorce. She is no more than a family counselor. Wendy Williams is on twice daily, with reruns?
I finished my chores in time to watch Judge Alex. Why, Oh WHY did you cancel my favorite daytime show? Couldn’t you have gotten rid of that tacky Paternity Court where everyone is cheating and/or having unprotected sex with so many different people they can’t even keep count? Bring back the most decent, fair and honest judge…. Judge Alex.
Stupid, stupid, Judge Alex is classic! And to replace him with Perez? Who is she? Fox really needs some help at the top!
I think Perez is one of those fake judge shows. Even though the judge is personable and capable, I dislike all of those fake shows–the actors over act and the cases are so often unrealistic. They just aren’t fun or entertaining to watch unless real disputes are being arbitrated.
Judge Alex was my favorite judge show. I will certainly miss him. I taped the show if I was out when he came on.
We liked Alex more than the others. He has compassion and intelligence.
I was very sorry to hear Judge Alex had been cancelled. In my opinion it was the best on tv. I hope to see Judge Alex on something good in the future. Good luck to Judge Alex and his entire staff.
I thought his court show was the most entertaining on the air. He has a great sense of humor and yet was very fair as well. Bring him back!!!!
Miss the show very much
Please bring Judge Alex back and soon!!!
I loved him! Lowest ratings?! I cannot believe that! Why in the world s Divorce Court and Judge Joe Brown still on. THEY are the worst!
I do agree with the comments on Divorce Court and Judge Joe Brown (and I would include Judge Mathis) even though I like each judge but I do not like their cases often nor the way they allow litigants to mouth off to each other and sometimes go into rants and tantrums. I agree Divorce Court is more about therapy and reconciling than divorce. Their stories are endless episodes of infidelity and self-justification.
Back again..to let the Fox station know how big of a mistake they made with canceling Judge Alex. I only knew it was canceled because I did a search on the web when I could not find his show and kept getting commercials about 3 judges who are to be in his allotted to time space. Wow FOX did you really have to get rid of his official page already and his face book page is gone too. In fact, many links I clicked on.. came up empty except this one. Very thankful this site is keeping us up to… Read more »
bad decision. We watched Judge Alex every day and scheduled our day in order to watch the Judge. I hope another station picks him up. There are very few intelligent court room shows onTV and his was the best. I cant believe his replacement is getting the same ratings
Bring back Judge Alex.
i like Judge Alex better then some of the other court shows and wish they would not take it off the air bring Alex back!!
Judge Alex is a show I looked forward to watching every day. His humor and intelligence made the show entertaining. I have learned so much from him about law and going to court, although I haven’t had to use it. I will truly miss his show, his quick wit, and his beautiful smile. I hope we’ll see him again.
