This season, there are several new TV shows that are based on feature films. Historically, most have done poorly in the ratings and have been cancelled after one season. Will Limitless be one of the lucky ones and be renewed for a second season by CBS? Stay tuned.
On Limitless, deadbeat Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) is given the NZT-48 drug and it unlocks 100% of his brain. Brian has complete recall of whatever he’s learned at any point in his life, either consciously or subconsciously. The FBI want to use him to help solve crimes but they’re not the only ones interested in Brian and the drug. The rest of the cast includes Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Switch guy with gal, drug with nature and FBI with NYPD and you have Unforgettable, except for Bradley Cooper guest starring every now and then.
But one difference. Unforgettable took itself way too seriously. Unforgettable doesn’t and has doses of humor.
this show is – take pill, solve crime, try to get a snippet of a clue to solve the “mystery of the drug.” Then wash rinse repeat. Watched the pilot and part of the second episode the other day. Has to be one of the most BORING, poorly written, badly acted shows I have seen in a long time. I kept dozing off. I want my hour and a half back.
Loooovvveee this show. Although I am not in the age bracket you are aiming for I am 77, this is one of the new shows I really enjoy. Excellent cast,excellent writing.
By far, the show I most enjoy watching this season.

I actually thought it helped to watch the full length movie with Bradley Cooper because now you know the full background of Cooper’s character.

It’s fun to watch. Sort of serious but very entertaining and comical at the same time!
We loved this one! Great new idea for a tv show…. and I guess it helped that we didn’t see the movie. Also, Jake McDormand is a very likeable character!

The premier was a bit different and interesting to watch. But I was unaware it was based on a movie, which perhaps is better not to know about. I’ll try to watch it again, if I can stay awake. Perhaps I need some NZT-48, haha.
