We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.

How can any network expect a show to click with only 2 episodes? There were so many new shows with promise that I had to max DVR some of them but I DID watch Lone Star the night it aired. With such a super talented cast it needed some time to unfold. The premise was new. We’re bombarded with mindless reality shows, the public needed a few more weeks to grasp this new show. Sad!!! Sad!!! This was a super good series. Here’s hoping that Fox re-visits their decision and resumes this show. Anything that Jon Voight plays in is gonna be a good one. And this was starting out in that same vein.
Best show of the season. They needed to give it more time. It was a refreshing change of pace. Great actors. Great story. Fox needs to reconsider.
Very sorry to see Lonestar canned so quickly. I don’t watch much TV but Fox had me hooked. Now I’m free so I guess I should be grateful 🙂
I cant not believe this show was cancelled!!! Now I have not seen the 2nd show yet ( DVRd it) but I loved the 1st show and James Wolk…I would of bought nething from him lol. I thought once again I picked a winner (like I did with will & grace, lost and mad men) hey Ive got good taste lol listen to me people give this another chance!
I am utterly disappointed that this show was canceled. It was definitely the best NEW show on any network. Fox, if you won’t air it, at ,east release it to DVD!
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this show. Fox should have gave this show a chance. Lone Star had so much potential. This was the only show we could agree on watching together. Now we are back to fighting over wether we watch Teen Mom or Border Wars first. Thanks Fox!
I loved this show….. It was something new and exciting. Cant beleive it got cancelled. What a disapointment. I say bring it back and give it a chance 2 episodes is n ot even enought to get everyone hooked.
I absolutely loved Lone Star! It was funny, smart, creative, and suspensful! It had such a different spin than any other show out there! I really enjoyed the actors as well! I really hope they brign it back! Try it again! i do like Lie To Me as well.
Great show. I told so many to watch. So tired of cops, doctors and reality. I thought the show would last for many seasons.
I can’t believe they cancelled the show. It was very interesting and different. I think the worst idea was putting it on against hit shows on other stations like Dancing With The Stars and the “lost” look-alike, The Event. A new show needs some time to catch on and compete against veteran shows like that. Please bring it back, but on a different day. Have patience. It will catch on. Cable networks may be the way to go also. USA and TBS have loyal viewer followings. Give it chance. Don’t let a good idea go to waste.

When the first teaser commercials aired, and I wanted to Tivo the new show, I couldn’t remember the name of the show! and most people had no idea, or interes, in a show named “Lone Star”, better name would have been “Catch Him if you Can”, or “ConArtist”, but some name that appeals to the “Madoff” in all our lives.
Schmucks at fox! Hopefully another cable station will pick it up!
This sucks. I really liked this show. Looking at the billboards everyday till it debuted and now after two episodes its gone? WTH??? I really hope FOX can get this back on the air or at least put the season 1 on dvd.
