Netflix and Warner Horizon (the producer of the Longmire series) have been discussing the possibility of the streaming service picking up the cancelled series for a fourth season.
While both side are hopeful that an agreement can be reached, negotiations have been tricky. If a deal is made, production on season four would likely begin in March 2015.
Longmire follows the life of a Wyoming county sheriff who’s returned to work following his wife’s demise. With the support of his family and co-workers, he solves cases and works to stay in office. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
As fans know all to well, A&E cancelled Longmire after three seasons. Viewership dropped slightly in season three but the 18-49 demo ratings dropped 24%. Ad-supported networks like A&E depend on advertisers for their revenue and they favor younger audiences.
What do you think? Are you hoping that Netflix orders a fourth season of Longmire? Are you a Netflix subscriber? If not, would you become one?
Please netflix pick up this great series Longmire!
What a shame that we have to pay additional money for a wonderful show. We keep getting
garbage shows i.e. reality tv: Housewives, househusbands, crazy backwoods folk, fake families, shows that have people yelling or fighting all the time. This is not my reality. I am not between 18-49 and have more money to spend than the younger folks, how about focus on the above 50 that want to watch quality TV not trash.
Yes, I would definitely subscribe to Netflix to watch Longmire. Great show. Tired of realty shows. I have many friends who watched it and were disappointed when it was cancelled. Great plots and great acting. Hope to see it comeback.
Yea, I most certainly would subscribe to Netflix if they would make LONGMIRE available. What will advertisers do when all the “baby boomers” reach the age of 70? Won’t our numbers then be too significant to ignore!
Good point.
Hell yeah I’ll watch it. This is a great day. Now I have a reason to watch my Netflix. This is actually a really smart business decision for Netflix. You see I’m in my 50’s and like a lot of people my age I’m not real comfortable with the flood of television technology. (my kids tell me what TV’s and cell phones to buy and how they work) So by adding Longmire to Netflix I’ll HAVE TO work out how to use the technology and thereby become comfortable with it. Who knows, maybe I’ll twitter someday. Fat chance.
Hopefully Netflix will rescue on of the few quality shows available on TV. Despite a decent number of viewers the network decided to can the series because it was not the right demographic.
Yes, I want it back. I’ll subscribe to netflix in a heartbeat. There was no credible reason for the network that I won’t name, have not, and will not watch after this to cancel this excellent show. I was almost done with them when they cancelled The Glades, and after Longmire, no more. I know that they are all greedier than the oil companies, and “reality” shows are cheaper than good entertainment like Longmire. 3 However, I ask one question. How are you going to make money if you run off all of your intelligent viewers who can actually afford… Read more »
YES!!!!! Please bring it back! I totally enjoy Longmire and can never understand why these great series get canceled. Those of us older than 49 are purchasers too! Don’t count us out! I would subscribe to Netflix to see it and would hope it goes far beyond the 4th season.
I was really hoping Longmire would come back on TV cable, but if Netflix is the only choice we have, we will have to look into subscribing because hubby & I DEFINITELY want the show to come back for more seasons. LONG LIVE LONGMIRE!
YES!!! We would watch it, we would pay for it, we would do whatever it takes!! We (both over 50) and our son (25) not only watched it and loved it, we would both be prepared to buy it on DVD, pay for the episodes on Amazon, pay for Netflix, whatever! We simply MUST KNOW whether Branch shot his dad, or his dad shot him!!!! We will never understand why A & E (doesn’t that stand for Arts and ENTERTAINMENT?!?!) killed such a go0d show. They did the same thing with Nero Wolfe, and we almost didn’t want to watch… Read more »
YES YES YES!!!! It’s hard to imagine I could like Netflix much more than I already do, but the one thing that would make that happen would be to have even better stuff available for streaming….and Longmire #4 would definitely take that cake. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this show and everything about it!
Yes I will watch it !!!!. I will get Netflix to. I want a season 4. Will Longmire be picked up for more than season 4 ?. season 5 and 6 and7 I hope !!!.
Ditto! Long Live Longmire!
I agree with Scrubbie. My husband and I are 70 (and guess what! We’re still consumers and still purchase commodities!). This 18-49 nonsense really annoys me! My son-in-law and daughter (in that wonderful age range of 18-49) also watch Longmire! Perhaps it’s time for us old folks to hoard our money and disregard all commercials! Do the networks ever consider how that would impact everything if all of us over fifty refused to watch AND refused to purchase???
Ha, the country would implode. Not joking…
OMG!!!!yes bring back Longmire. I’ll buy all your advertised products on the commercials. Please, please, please, please.Such a great show, cast, location, down home western flavor. I love it.
Ha! But that’s how this show makes people feel.
It would be a terrible shame if no one picks up Longmire. Netflix already has season 1 and 2. It’d be so great if they picked it up.
I liked this show a lot. There are too many reality shows, and too many cop shows set in cities. Longmire is refreshing because it’s a modern day “Western”. I think it should be kept on TV, but if not TV then available through streaming.
By the way, I’m almost 60, my son is 40 and his son is 19 and we all watched it.
