Good news, Nashies! Connie Britton has announced she will be in all of Nashville season five, despite earlier reports to the contrary. After Nashville was cancelled by ABC, then picked up by CMT, there was much speculation that Britton, who stars as lead Rayna James, would only appear in a limited number of episodes.
During a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Britton said, “I’m in. I’m in for the duration,” when Ellen DeGeneres asked about rumors that she would only recur this season. Watch a clip, after the jump. Nashville season five premieres on CMT with a two-hour episode, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9:00pm. Also returning as series regulars are Hayden Panettiere, Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Maisy Stella,d and Lennon Stella.

During the interview, Britton teased the the upcoming season saying, “It’s an exciting new season because we have new showrunners. So, we have new writers, and the stories, I think, are going to be really… It’s going to get us back to what Nashville is about and what the stories and the characters are and what that town is, and what the music is….”
When DeGeneres asked Britton if she thinks she’ll sing (professionally) in other places, Britton said it the singing made the country music drama an exciting proposition. “As an actor, I wanted to do something that scared the H–heck out of me. And so, I said, ‘I wanna sing’.”
Britton added that playing a country music star has been an incredible thing to do, as an actor. Laughing, she admitted that singing still scares her, “every single time.”
