The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

Love Trauma, Love Mercy both should be given the chance of a second season, at the end of season two if the ratings are so bad to cancel then cancel all shows should be given at least two seasons to get warmed up. My other favourite show got cancelled after it screen the pilot here in Australia, which is very disappointing. Trauma should be viewed as a great vehicle for future paramedics, it shows how important the first responder is, if you make light of it by cancelling it future paramedics won’t be inspired to make a career out of… Read more »
Well, dear Trauma fans, we have been ignored. I went to the TV schedule, and NBC doesn’t have it airing next Monday. It looks like all our comments weren’t read by NBC, or, if they did, they really considered us unimportant. There is only one show left watching (Mercy). NBC has some idiots making dangerously bad decisions. They should clean house and get a new staff at NBC.
it’s a really good show… and it deserves more, we deserve more! i love the characters, the plots and the fact that it acutally takes place in the city of SF. Please, nbc don’t cancellet it!!
This is a great show! Don’t cancel it!
DONT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!! its the only show i look forward to and never miss an episode! its its not going to be on nbc, make it on the web or some other channel but DONT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really love this programme it sad to hear that it has been cancelled. It is very rare for me to find a programme I really like and all the ones I have come to like this past year have been cancelled.
There haven’t been many shows that literally make my mouth drop. Trauma is one of the few that has this affect on me week after week. Cliff Curtis’s character blows me away and Kevin Rankin’s character cracks me up. The fact that it is filmed on actual San Francisco streets and not in a studio is one of my favorite things of Trauma. Why get rid of such an entertaining series? There’s nothing like watching Trauma followed by another one of my absolute favorites, Law & Order. Why ruin my Monday’s NBC?
are they out of their minds!!! this is a great show. nbc don’t let all the ems and er people down ! keep this show on the air. unfortunately many of us can’t watch it during regular viewing time-we’re at work!!!
LOVE this show–how can we convince NBC to keep it?
I really like this show and I wish that NBC would give it a real chance!
I guess I can’t say that I am surprised at NBC’s decision. After all, these are the same execs that moved Jay Leno to 10 pm and Conan O’Brien to The Tonight Show and we all seen how that flopped. NBC is starting to be about as popular as the UPN Network!!
I love this show and I record it every week! I really wish they wouldn’t cancel it… it’s so amazing and is a great filler for the gap ER left. 🙁 boo to the cancellation! Big Boo!
this is one of my favorites shows. I think if you would give it more time, it would become a hit. I will be very disapointed if it cancels.
Please don’t cancel this show
Don’t understand how NBC can be disappointed in the ratings, when they took it off the air abruptly, then returned it with little to no promotion. Many viewers didn’t even know it was back on the schedule, until it was more than 1/2 way into the 10 episode arc, then they cut it back to 8. I get that ratings help to guide their decisions, but they need to take a look back historically, sure everyone wants a big hit right out the block, but how often does that happen? Shows like Cheers & Dynasty, started out with low ratings,… Read more »
