NCIS: Michael Weatherly Is Willing to Return; Talks Finale

by Regina Avalos, May 15, 2016

NCIS

NCIS will say goodbye to season 13 and Tony DiNozzo on Tuesday night, and Michael Weatherly spoke about the finale and the end of his time on the CBS series in a recent press phone conference.

According to Deadline, the actor spoke about finding out something new about his character while filming the episode. He said the following:

“I discovered an aspect of DiNozzo that had never been revealed before, and it truly surprised me. In that scene, I didn’t recognize any Michael Weatherly at all, and very little Tony DiNozzo. It was more like DiNozzo to give Gibbs mouth-to-mouth resuscitation than this thing that he does in the last episode.”

Michael Weatherly has left the world of NCIS behind, but he is willing to return if needed. The actor made that clear in his comments. This likely means DiNozzo will leave happily instead of by tragic circumstances. He teased the following:

“I believe in the franchise of NCIS very much. I would absolutely be open to anything and everything, including things that no one’s even thought of yet. So the long answer is yes.”

CBS fans will not have to miss Michael Weatherly long. The network picked up his pilot, titled Bull, on Friday.

Check out a sneak peek from the finale below. Are you a fan of Michael Weatherly? Do you plan to watch his departure from NCIS on Tuesday night? Tell us what you think.

I will miss Michael Weatherly on NCIS. I loved him, Ziva, and Timothy! I hate when you take off original characters that are awesome.
There are new shows that I don’t care for now and shows I like such as Castle, Bones last season 2016-2017.

The episode was a disservice to Tony. It was more like a tribute to Ziva. Lets hope that obnoxious female FBI agent and the MI6 agent don’t make their way to next season. They were both terrible. They should have assigned Tony to head up the Naples office like he always wanted.

The ending did Tony a disservice. It was more like a tribute to Ziva. Lets hope that bitchy FBI agent and the Mi6 agent don’t find their way into the show next season. They just should have given Tony the Naples assignment like he always wanted.

I wish Michael would stay. As much as I like Mark the two together made the family. Like Gibbs & Franks .As for McGee I never thought he fit and am not sure I can continue to watch it. As for Michael’s new series not my kind of show so I won’t be watching it. Sorry!

I was sorry to see the end of Tony; he was often saddled with the part of a smart ass which didn’t do the actor Michael Weatherly justice. I wasn’t surprised Ziva died; it was the only solution the writers (?) could do as too many people missed her character and wanted her back. Why did all the female leads get knocked off? They were all strong characters or was that the problem?

I would love to see Tony checking in by telephone and when the old team asked how talia is fairing with Tony Tony looks out the window where she and Ziva are playing on the beach and Tony smiles and replies that she is going to be just fine. As all wasn’t what it appeared but to keep the family safe they had to play the charade of Ziva getting killed.

I will really miss him on NCIS. His character was fresh and fun, but he had your back. I know actors move on, but we fans feel we know the characters and look forward to seeing them and the interaction between them. Good luck with your new show Mr Weatherly, I will continue to watch NCIS, but will miss Tony. I will tune in to try your new show, and hope I enjoy it too.

Michael Weatherly’s masterful characterization of an NCIS agent will be missed. His performance is like having multiple personalities of your favorite actors from the duke to fred flintstone. Mahalo for the laughs, tears, and excitement.

I know Michael Weatherly has his own life and is entitled to pursue whatever he wants. But I sure will miss him on NCIS. My husband and I are huge fans. Who will do the Mcthis and Mcthat jokes? Truthfully…bummer dude!

It makes me very sad. Tony was always my favorite and the reason I continued to watch every episode. NCIS is my favorite show and I hope this will not change it so much that I don’t watch it anymore like when Grissom left CSI. Can’t wait to watch Bull. See you soon Tony DiNozz. :-((
