NCIS: Michelle Obama to Appear on May Episode

by Regina Avalos, April 23, 2016

“Homefront” – When a 14-year-old foils a home invasion, Gibbs suspects the teenager is withholding pertinent details. Also, Director Vance and Senior FBI Agent Fornell travel to London as part of the ongoing escaped British spy case, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. The episode features an appearance by First Lady Michelle Obama as she welcomes Gibbs and the wife of a Marine to the White House for a “Joining Forces” roundtable with military spouses. “Joining Forces” is a nationwide initiative calling all Americans to rally around service members, veterans and their families and support them through wellness, education and employment opportunities. NCIS has entered itself into history. The CBS series can now say it is the first dramatic series to actually film an episode inside the White House. The West Wing only filmed outside the building.

During the May 3 episode, titled “Homefront,” Mark Harmon and the crew of the series visited the location to film a cameo appearance by Michelle Obama. She appeared on the series to help promote Joining Forces, which is an organization that helps with the families of veterans.

TV Guide spoke with Gary Glasberg, the executive producer of the series, about the appearance by the First Lady. He said the following:

“At the end of the day, this was really about supporting Joining Forces. It’s something that we’ve been aware of and conscious of in our research and storytelling, and this was an opportunity to really focus on it, so that people can be aware of everything it’s done. When we reached out to express our interest in the organization, the opportunity came up for the first lady to participate. Originally the idea was for her to come and spend some time with us, and then, to quote them, they invited us to come and film ‘in their house.’ And that turned out to be just a dream come true for us.”

NCIS has already been renewed for season fourteen, but fans will see some changes. Michael Weatherly will depart at the end of this season, and there have been some cast additions made. Those additions will make their first appearances on the series as season thirteen ends.

Are you a fan of NCIS? Are you surprised to see Michelle Obama on the series? Tell us what you think.

Having Mrs. OBAMA on the show is the best idea yet! Don’t worry about the haters, they have nothing else to do. She’s supporting something that has kept them safe and they”re hating. Thank you for coming up with the idea and thanks to the Obamas, for letting you do it at the White House. Change has come to America. Go NCIS!! I love NCIS. Don’t cancel it ever.

I’m a conservative that supports all vets of all wars. Perhaps a spokesperson from the vet organization would have been a better choice to have on the show and not so political.

Great! Just when I stopped watching this bishop is the worst character ever show.
I guess I’ll watch when FLOTUS is in and fast forward, like I’ve been doing, the bishop parts.

I would like to nominate an ascending actor Rudolph John Eisenzopf
who has been in NCIS New Orleans, in an episode called “Rockabye Baby.” He has been in The Big Short, and Queen Sugar on the Oprah Network. He is a talented actor who has a wide range and should have a chance to be on a network show as a regular!

Wow!! Amazing. I take it from this response that conservatives do not like programs or organizations that support the vets.

Have to agree with Doug. For all you that despise Obama, if you don’t like it, don’t watch.

Love that we can support vets in any way. Coming from The White House and a female national figure, Michelle Obama, is exceptional. Would expect a huge draw for this. Thanks for this great exposure!!
