John Tavner will live to spy and write oddly confessional folk songs, another day. The Patriot TV show has been renewed for a second season on Amazon Prime. The quirky espionage drama series stars Michael Dorman, Michael Chernus, Terry O’Quinn, Kathleen Munroe, Kurtwood Smith, Aliette Opheim, Chris Conrad, Julian Richings, Gil Bellows, and Marcus Toji.
A political thriller, Patriot follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Dorman) on assignment to stop Iran from going nuclear. Creator, writer, and director Steven Conrad executive produces with James Parriott, Glenn Ficarra, John Requa, Charles Gogolak, and Gil Bellows.
The first season of Patriot premiered on Amazon, on February 24, 2017 in the US, UK, Germany, and Austria. According to Deadline, season one will become available later this year on PrimeVideo.com for Prime Video members in more than 200 countries and territories.

This has to be one of the best shows of its type out there . Dorman is perfect as the not so perfect spy . Viewers deserve more of this rather than be subject to watching nothing but dark and bleak spy shows.

I got freaked out it was one-and-done, having been made in 2014. There is such brilliance spanning multiple genres – this will catch on, but people are definitely late to the party. Expertly done, and I hope they don’t change a thing in S2. Props to Amazon for the continuation, it’s easily one of the most original shows in existence right now.

This is one of the most creative and enjoyable new shows I have had the pleasure of watching in a very long time. A different type of funny packaged into a slightly dark format, it is expertly written and delivered. The performances are fantastic, casting is excellent and very fitting. Darkly funny. I binged Season 1 today and now have to wait for season 2. I’ll never view Luxembourg the same way!
One of the best shows I have seen for a long time. Cleverly dark and humorous. Bear with it for a few episodes, as the story is told from a few angles and season 1 definitely sets up a great season two and more.
