Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
Please RENEW POI – it’s one of the BETTER CBS shows, never get tried of watching John & Harold…also bring back SHAH..she was the best female lead.
best EVER EVER SHOW ON TV
Great show!
Please don’t cancel it
I love watching Person of Interest. My opinion, the shows drop in ratings wouldn’t be that if the show was aired consistently. Having 2,3,4,5 weeks in between a new episode will lose any audience. No consistency. Too bad.
Nah, that isn’t the reason for the drop.
During season 3 there were even more hiatus periods than during season 4, yet the ratings were solid.
Then the storytelling simply went down the toilet and that is the reason the show stinks now.
I love POI. John, Finch, Fusco and Shaw make a great team. I hope they close the story line on Samaritan asap.
RENEW IT!!! And DO NOT CANCEL IT!!! 13 episodes is ridiculous, why are networks doing these short seasons? A season should be at least 22 episodes! POI is a smart show with good plots.
Yes it should come back. I love that show. They are kind of like family. Wish it was on more than once a week. There is always something interesting on every show, then, you have to wait until the next week, and on and on. It just keeps you on the edge of your seat. My husband and I are glued to the TV every week. Please keep renewing our favorite show. I love all of the actors on it. John is so good looking. They are all great actors. You need to give him someone special, since the others… Read more »
I agree totally!!! Please renew.
one amazing show. My husband and I love it. Never
Missed it. Like another comment said stop giving
You attention on the younger crowd and concentrate
On the baby boomers, like us, who are home to watch
The show. Come on…bring it back.
I hope they do not cancel it. Itis one of the bexst show on tv right now.
I hope season 5 is not the last season.
The finale was so in need of 3 more seasons at least. I would like this show to continue. I’m missing Shaw now.
So glad this show failed. The show runners replaced a critically accalimed, beautiful accomplished actress and fan favorite with that they thought were a “it” girl. However, we fans said differently and voted with our feet by literally leaving by the millions. Take that Nolin and company.
Hi,I am a student of Software Engineering and I must say…This is like a heaven for Computer Science students…It gives us inspiration and we definitely look forward to seeing it…One of the Best Season Ever…
Many of the shows I have most enjoyed failed because of pandering to the 18-to whatever market. I’m a Baby Boomer. My generation has the money! Why do the foolish sponsors seek approval from other demographics? Baby Boomers are many and we will live many more years. Everytime a good show like POI comes into being some idiot re-designs the story line and it becomes a downhill trip to the sewer. Killing Carter was a big mistake. Introducing Root was a bigger mistake. Letting Samaritan become the center of the story, while pushing John into the background and Finch into… Read more »
Shaw was one of the major reasons why people started tuning out. The death of Carter and then Shaw, Root, and Samaritan taking center stage is why it’s just about dead from low viewership now. Other than that, nice points.
My suggestion to the networks would be to quit paying so much attention to the 18 to 49 age group. Baby boomers like myself are the ones with the most money in the bank, have our houses paid off and our children out of the house and on their own. That leaves us with the most available cash to buy all of the hours and hours of stuff they try to peddle on Prime Time.
Leave “Person of Interest” alone…….I like it.

The ratings were up because of the fearless Sarah. For some reason it’s fun to see a woman being gutsy and brash and still look great. I love the other characters but it’s been missing something and I just learned she had twins! Way to go! I hope she’ll be back, the viewers need her and the show needs her and the rating need her. Plus, the plot seemed to thicken at the end of the season and it’s a great time to delve into more adventures with the team!
I don’t know where you’re getting your numbers, DebbeL, but the ratings started fading after Sarah’s character was introduced and began their slide after Carter was killed and the Samaritan storyline took center stage. The Season 4 finale set series lows for both the viewers and the demo. I am all for gutsy, brash, good-looking women, but they never seemed to know how to write Shaw — in her first episode she was killing it in a little black dress and two eps later she was staggering on high heels like a baby duck. It was sad. When she left,… Read more »
