A couple weeks ago, FOX shifted their low-rated Rake series to Friday nights. Now, the show is on the move again.
Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.
The series is being replaced by Kitchen Nightmares as of this Friday night. A rerun of the Gordon Ramsay series will lead into the one-hour series finale of Raising Hope at 9pm. Season six of Nightmares kicks off on April 11th.
Back-to-back episodes of Rake will air on Saturday, April 5th, starting at 8pm. That will leave one episode unaired — the sixth installment produced, titled “Mammophile.” No word on when or if that will see the light of day.
One thing is clear however. Despite the fact that FOX hasn’t cancelled it yet, there’s no way that Rake will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? Have you been watching the Rake TV series? Why do you think it hasn’t caught on?
I think it’s a great show and it hasn’t caught on because of poor advertising. No one knows this show exist… I found it by accident and thought it was great…
show is funny always looked forward to seeing it……sorry its going away.
I hope that a second consideration is given to keeping Rake . I don’t care when this show comes on – I’ll find it and watch it! I truly enjoy it and always look forward to the next episode.
I really like this show. Quirky, irreverent, adult humor. TV needs more shows like this. Love all the actors, too. Please FOX, give it a chance.
I cannot believe that the best comedy on television is about to get the ax. I blame it on scheduling. The first show I caught was well into the season following a Thursday night American Idol broadcast. I loved it so much I went to my on-demand service to catch myself up. After that one show I never could find another live broadcast to watch. I had to keep returning to on-demand to see the latest episode. That kind of moving target is just not fair to the cast or crew – or the show’s fans for goodness sake. Why… Read more »
That sucks I thought it was funny.
Why do you cancel the good shows. Rake was funny and very entertaining.
If it is getting cancelled is because of the sponsors.
People like this show!
Look forward to each new episode!
The suspending/cancelling of Rake is just another example of choosing the lowest common denominator. Cancel a hilarious, well written series with an outstanding cast and replacing it with a pseudo-reality cooking show. Let the idiots who watch this garbage feel smarter than someone else. “Everybody’s got to have somebody to look down on ..” K. Kristofferson.
Poor decision FOX, IMHO.
Love Rake and Greg Kinnear. Have watched FOX is making a mistake and has never given this show a chance.
We love Rake! How about another chance and on a better night?
PLEASE bring back RAKE it was a good show pick a different night allot better than some shows that our on now!!!
Please, please do not cancel Rake! I have very few network shows that I follow religiously, and Greg Kinnear’s rake is one of my very favorite new shows.
I am vested in the show’s plot and characters, I have my DVR set to record the episodes, I have been very disappointed that there has not been a new show recently…. BRING BACK MY RAKE… I miss him (them) greatly!!
I Like This Show! Thursday was Fine, but Saturday is a good idea! More advertising so people know where it is! There is so little on Saturday nights anymore unless there’s a movie on TNT or TBS, etc. Give This Show A chance!
