What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Real O’Neals revolves around an Irish-Catholic family that seems to be living an idyllic life. Their lives are turned upside down when the middle son comes out of the closet and the rest of the family members come clean with their own secrets. They then start to live their lives more authentically. The show stars Martha Plimpton, Jay R. Ferguson, Noah Galvin, Matt Shively, Bebe Wood, and Mary Hollis Inboden.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Real O’Neals is averaging a 0.92 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.07 million viewers. Compared to the first season, that’s down by 17% in the demo and down by 22% in viewership. Check out The Real O’Neals’ performance against the other ABC TV shows.

Telly’s Take
The Real O’Neals had questionable ratings in its first season and they’ve dropped in season two. Several episodes have drawn less than a 0.9 rating in the demo. ABC could renew it for a third season but I suspect they’ll cancel it instead and find something new to fill the timeslot. Sorry O’Neals.

My guess is that this show got cancelled in part because it lost viewers when it changed it’s original focus and maybe possibly when the actor who plays Kenny was said to be too outspoken on some real life topics. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the parents living as divorced/still kinda married while they tried to date and live together and apart. A situation they all handled in a wonderful way. Please don’t cancel the show! I absolutely love “The Real O’Neals.” My own life seems to mirror a lot of the same situations and some of the friends i had as Kenny did. The show brings me so many laughs i can’t control myself! I would think that the person whose life this show is loosely based on would want to keep on going similarly like “The Goldberg’s” which is also hilarious as it shows “Real life” situations. And, as one of the other commenters said, i can’t take “Imaginary Mary” as it’s really not believable. I kind of relate… Read more »

This show is hilarious, original and has a good message. Would be foolish to cancel. Much better than many other sitcoms!
