TNT upset a lot of fans when they cancelled Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash but there’s finally some good news from the cable channel. They’ve renewed their very popular Rizzoli & Isles series for a sixth season of 18 episodes.
The remaining episodes of season five will start airing on February 17th and season six will kick off next summer.

Series Topped Summer Charts as Basic Cable’s #1 Show, With Top 5 Rankings among Key Adult Demos
TNT has ordered a sixth season of the blockbuster hit Rizzoli & Isles, which finished this past summer as basic cable’s #1 series. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star in the drama, which has ranked as one of basic cable’s Top 5 series for five consecutive years, including 2014-to-date. Season five of Rizzoli & Isles is set to return with new episodes in early 2015. TNT has ordered 18 episodes for season six, which is slated to launch in summer 2015. Rizzoli & Isles is produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions, with Haber and showrunner Jan Nash serving as executive producers.
Based on characters created by best-selling crime novelist Tess Gerritsen and developed for television by Janet Tamaro, Rizzoli & Isles stars Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Alexander as Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry, an authentic and deep friendship and a unique working relationship that together, helps them to solve the most complex murder mysteries in the city of Boston.
Rizzoli & Isles also stars Jordan Bridges as Jane’s brother, Detective Frankie Rizzoli Jr.; Bruce McGill as Sgt. Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s steady old-school Homicide Squad teammate; Idara Victor as crime-scene analyst Nina Holiday; and Lorraine Bracco as Angela, Jane’s meddling mother.
Rizzoli & Isles launched in 2010, finishing its first year as basic cable’s #1 new series. Each year since, it has ranked as one of basic cable’s Top 5 series with total viewers, as well as one of basic cable’s Top 10 series with adults 25-54. The show topped the charts as the #1 series on basic cable this past summer, with 7.6 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. Rizzoli & Isles was also the #2 series (behind TNT’s The Last Ship) among adults 25-54 and within the Top 5 among adults 18-49 for the summer. When incorporating TNT’s multiple platforms, including live viewing, DVR playback, set-top VOD and digital on-demand, the summer run of Rizzoli & Isles reached a total of 13.6 million viewers per episode.

I love to watch Rizzoli and Isles and made sure that I stayed home on the nights that it was on, other wise the PVR taped it for me. I sure hope they do not cancel it.

I am so happy that TNT finally got their s…whoops, can’t say that. Anyway, Rizzoli and Isles is my absolute favorite show, even topping NCIS, which I dearly love. That’s where I fell in love with Sasha Alexander and cried when they killed her off. Now I’ve got her back and sure don’t want to lose her again. Please TNT, run Rizzoli and Isles forever. Greatest show on earth.

Amazing network this TNT. That makes for absolutely nothing to ever watch on this network. I just removed that channel from my remote favs. No point in having it.
Sorry but Rizzi & Isles is TNT s most watched show. I watched Dallas too but its ratings were way below this show.

Unsure of what to do now. I have planned on boycotting TNT after watching the remaining Perception episodes in February/March 2015. I originally started watching TNT just for Rizzoli & Isles and do love the show, but I am very angry over Perception’s cancellation and just do not want to give TNT any more of my viewing time.
I agree with the above. I thought they were gonna make us wait until the rest of season 5 aired. Great show, Angie and Sasha are amazing actresses. I’m so glad they found a home on a great show.
That’s GREAT news, love Rizzoli & Isles- the whole cast. I also watch TNT for Bones and Castle repeats. In regards to Warner, think they own Longmire and got it shopped to Netflix who picked it up- another BIG hooray!
About time. Top rated show and yet last to be renewed and it took them this long to announce the renewal when they renewed terrible shows like Legends and Murder in the First. They had renewed Major Crimes and The Last Ship months ago. I’d like to know what the hold up was. Salary negotiations of the stars ? Licensing fee negotiations with Warner Horizon? Warner Horizon shows have taken a hit recently, a lot being cancelled even some with fairly good ratings. A great show. Glad they are renewing it. I will definitely miss Perception. A good show. It was nice to have a different angle on solving mysteries.
