Police detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) are back on the trail of some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. The pair certainly share some quirky chemistry and their series, Rizzoli & Isles, is returning to TNT for season two on Monday, July 11th.
Featuring the talents of Harmon, Alexander, Jordan Bridges, Lee Thompson Young, Bruce McGill, and Lorraine Bracco, Rizzoli & Isles debuted last July. The premiere attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.55 million total viewers. The subsequent installments dropped a bit but the 10 episode season still managed to average a 1.5 rating in the demo and 6.86 million viewers. That’s quite good by TNT standards and is essentially double what some of the cable channel’s other shows attract.
Rizzoli & Isles was renewed for a second season of 13 episodes in July. The first 10 installments will run over the summer months. TNT hasn’t announced when they’ll air the remaining three episodes yet. If they follow a schedule similar to that of Leverage, they’ll end up debuting some time next winter.

Please keep the show on the air. It is great to see a show that has everything. Family, work, friendship. The entire family can sit and watch together. There is a bit of comedy and very serious business. Please keep up the good work. Can’t wait until July. There should be more episodes.

Rizzoli & Isles is a great cop drama that doesn’t play the rules. Mainly because it features two main central women characters and the men are all supporting characters. I don’t get why they would cut off the last 3 episodes to air later, if anything split it more evenly. The only thing I hope they have fixed/changed is the locations they film at. I’m from Boston, so I can tell you that most of their outdoor scenes look little to nothing like Boston. Some do though, I remember a University they filmed at that looked like it was in… Read more »

Well once again, why split up the season? I loved Sasha Alexander as special agent Kate Todd in NCIS and I never saw Angie Harmon in the show she was in after Law & Order. But she is really good too though. They go perfectly together, cop and ferenics expert. I love the combination there and we can always use girl power. They have it very much so. Good choice there TNT.
