It looks like season eight won’t be on the docket for police detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Doctor Maura Isles. Variety reports that Turner Entertainment chief creative officer Kevin Reilly confirmed that the Rizzoli & Isles TV show has been cancelled by TNT.
Though stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander likely would have kept making episodes, Reilly said that, “It felt like it was time.” The current cast also includes Lorraine Bracco, Jordan Bridges, and Bruce McGill.
While Rizzoli & Isles remains one of TNT’s top-rated shows, the ratings have fallen quite a bit over the years. The sixth season, which resumes on February 15th, is averaging a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.35 million viewers. That’s down by about 17% when compared to the fifth season’s ratings.
On the plus side, there are still plenty of new episodes to come. There are six more episodes remaining in the sixth season and the show’s already been renewed for a seventh season of 13 episodes. The latter will begin airing in the summer.

how can they cancel this show? rizzoli and iles and major crimes are the two best crime dramas on t.v. i am very dissapointed in tnt. i was a loyal tnt viewer but i may start watching other channels.
I agree with you. They should really reconsider that decision cause I’m sure that we are not the only ones that feel this way I mean what’s the point of paying for a cable channel that doesn’t offer a show worth watching.
I love Rizzoli & Isles. Can’t understand why such a top-rated quality show would be cancelled. Please reconsider and renew Rizzolo & Isles.

So disappointed!!!! I agree with Mischa – I DVR everything as well and maybe that doesn’t count. However, i feel that the only demographic the networks seem interested is the 18-49 group. I guess that means that I am TOO OLD to watch this show!
My family & I absolutely love this show. I can’t believe it’s being cancelled. I hope there are so many fans of this show that will just flood the TNT network so they will have no other choice than to keep this show alive for many more years to come.
Oh no, we’ve been watching this since Day One, loved the show AND characters, not just R&I but ALL of them. TNT SUX BIG TIME for this. Not sure there’s anything else worth watching, except Major Cimes- but THEY need to dump Rusty somewhere so I can quit the FF through his scenes.
It’s another of many bad decisions that TNT is making. They should support their dramas.

NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!! I love this show. I dvr everything and I do not believe that they take that into consideration. This is really sad news.
I really like this show. Don’t cancel. The cast is great, good writing. It’s still one of ur number 1 shows.
AS usual, the networks have no sense. Rizzoli and Isles is a good show.
Maybeif they put some shows on a different night, the show might get better ratings.

What TNT big executive decided that Rizzoli and Isles had to be split into summer and winter seasons. It started out as a summer show, and summer is when all the episodes should air consecutively. The ratings were great. How unfair it is to the loyal fans making us wait 5 months to see the final episodes of season 6.
