Shameless, House of Lies, Episodes: Showtime TV Shows Return January 2015

by Trevor Kimball, October 1, 2014

Shameless TV show season 5Showtime has announced that Shameless (season five), House of Lies (season four) and Episodes (season four) will kick off on Sunday, January 11th.

Here’s the press release:

FRANK, MATT & MARTY PARTY!

NEW SEASONS OF HIT SHOWTIME(R) COMEDY SERIES “SHAMELESS,” “HOUSE OF LIES” AND “EPISODES” TO RETURN SUNDAY, JANUARY 11TH

Trio of Emmy(R) Nominees William H. Macy, Don Cheadle and Matt LeBlanc To Kick Off New Year

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 1, 2014) – Beginning Sunday, January 11th, SHOWTIME will celebrate the New Year with its three Emmy-nominated leads William H. Macy, Don Cheadle and Matt LeBlanc when brand new seasons of SHAMELESS (9 p.m.), HOUSE OF LIES (10 p.m.) and EPISODES (10:30 p.m.) return on the network’s powerhouse, triple-header Sunday night.

First up at 9 p.m. ET/PT, it’s the fifth season of SHAMELESS starring Oscar(R) nominee and Emmy winner William H. Macy as pickled patriarch Frank Gallagher and Golden Globe(R) nominee Emmy Rossum as daughter Fiona. Recently garnering three Emmy Award nominations in the Comedy category, SHAMELESS season five finds the Gallaghers dealing with both the upside and downside of personal and urban renewal. As their neighborhood begins a move towards gentrifying, the Gallagher clan begins to reconcile their chaotic past in the hopes of building a better future. Dermot Mulroney and Steve Kazee and Sasha Alexander will guest star. The series stars Macy and Rossum, along with Ethan Cutkosky, Emily Bergl, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Jeremy Allen White, Noel Fisher and special guest star Joan Cusack. Based on the long-running hit U.K. series, SHAMELESS is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning television and film producer John Wells, Andrew Stearn, Christopher Chulack, Davey Holmes and Nancy Pimental. Wells developed the series for American television. Paul Abbott serves as executive consultant. SHAMELESS is produced by Bonanza Productions, Inc. in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Next, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, Oscar nominee Don Cheadle returns as Marty Kaan in the fourth season of HOUSE OF LIES. We last left a despondent Marty alone in the desert after a cataclysmic double-cross by Jeannie (Kristen Bell) and a visit by the Feds. This season, Marty’s brief stint in white collar prison left Jeannie to pick up the pieces of the now tainted Kaan & Associates with Clyde (Ben Schwartz) and Doug (Josh Lawson). Client flight decimated the bottom line, but Marty is a singular focus: winning, at any and all cost. Larenz Tate (Rush) returns as Marty’s brother Malcolm along with new guest stars Demetri Martin (The Daily Show with John Stewart) and Valorie Curry (The Following). From the hit tell-all book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn, HOUSE OF LIES stars Cheadle (Iron Man 3) in his three-time Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning performance. Kristen Bell (Frozen, Veronica Mars) plays his razor-sharp partner, along with Emmy winner Ben Schwartz (This is Where I Leave You); Josh Lawson (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues); Emmy winner Glynn Turman (In Treatment); and Donis Leonard Jr. (Criminal Minds). Produced by SHOWTIME, HOUSE OF LIES is created and executive produced by Matthew Carnahan. Jessika Borsiczky, Don Cheadle and David Walpert return as executive producers for season four.

Finally, Matt LeBlanc is back as, well, Matt LeBlanc in the fourth season of EPISODES at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. He returns in his Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning role as a fictionalized version of himself. This season, Matt faces a financial crisis and is forced to make some tough decisions. Matt being Matt, he will likely make the wrong ones. Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig) have been dragged back to L.A. to shoot more episodes of their disastrous sitcom Pucks! Meanwhile, their other project, The Opposite of Us, refuses to go away. And there’s a new network head who will, in all likelihood, make life more complicated for everyone. EPISODES is created and executive produced by award-winning writing partners David Crane (Friends) and Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You), and is also executive produced by Jimmy Mulville through his Hat Trick production company.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the new seasons of these Show time shows?

I REALLY like Shameless and House of Lies, but it is too bad that after October 13, I will no longer have ShowTime. (It is just getting too expensive for me to pay for premium channels.)
