FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

What do you think? Did you watch Shots Fired? Would you have watched a second season of this FOX series?
Really good well acted /script one of the better American TV shows cannot understand poor ratings would watch a second season but would have to be very good to compete with the first
Please bring Shots Fired back for a season 2 plus more!! I loved watching it and will always watch it if it returns. It’s true life events that need to be forecasted!!!
Enjoyed every minute of it. Not only controversial, but consistent with today. Lessons can be learned! Please, I agree with others, please reconsider. ALL of the actors were excellent bringing to life the show’s content, context and hopefully, a better understanding.
I’m disappointed that the show was cancelled. I was really looking forward to watching season 2 . Please reconsider this decision. Coming from a fan of the show in the Bahamas.
I love shots fired it is a great show it deserves a second season
This was a really good show, I reaally looked foward to seeing the Second Season. A shame, buy at least they didn’t cut Talking Smack (huh).
I just binge watched the whole series. I think a season 2 would be astounding.
It’s sad that in 2017 so many true issues are avoided by canceling real life; at least the real life of what Black America lives with everyday. As long as drugs and guns exist in minority neighborhoods it’s crime. But, in “White America” those same issues are epidemics or standing your ground/ feared for my life. Every walk of life should be exposed to the reality of this world; not just a sheltered view.
Yes I would love to see another season. This is happening all over. So they could take it to another city/neighborhood. They did a good portrayal to show what happens regarding a similar trial based on race what needs to be changed
I am highly upset about the discontinued series of Shots Fired. I felt it was perfectly adequate for today’s lessons needing to be learned and things we all deal with on the daily basis I would watch a second season and so on and so forth. If I have to advertise alone I will do just that to bring the show back.
Yes, I would have loved a second season. I was looking forward to it.
I personally love the show an would love to see it again awsome cast members i give it 5 stars
I want shots fired to cone back it was really a go show I enjoy watching it please bring it back
Yes I would have absolutely loved to watch the second season. I looked forward to watching it every week and I loved the twists and issues covered. It gave a good idea of what sometimes goes on behind the scenes and the reasons why people do what they do. It also showed how people’s beliefs and judgements could be so wrong.. It’s really a pity that it’s had to end but who knows….Thanks for giving me excellent viewing at least in Season 1 – All the way from London, England.
Shots fired has had me hooked from the get go!! its quite gritty and a shame they aren’t doing a second season as they could expand on the two main characters in different situations plus how things progress with Ash’s daughter impacting on her life professionally too.
