This drama is based on the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officer Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker). The story takes place in 1985 during the end of the Cold War.

Sandy and her partner Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) have vowed to find the mole that would turn out to be the most notorious traitor in US History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Sandy is in a race against time to save the Soviet intelligence officers from being caught and killed.

Also a beautiful wife and mother, Sandy lives her own double life and has vowed to stop at nothing until she uncovers the truth.

Series Finale:
Episode #8 — Avenger
Despite the task force being fully convinced of Ames’ guilt, Sandy seeks more definitive proof to convince the Justice Department to proceed with their own investigation. As the hunt closes in on Ames, Sandy’s commitment to the job pushes her husband’s patience and commitment to the brink. After Ames is finally caught and brought to justice, he mulls over a major decision — to go down defiantly or to confess and protect his wife and child. (Courtesy ABC)

Just when I thought ABC had finally aired a truthful and very sophisticated production of “The Assets,” it is cancelled… with no explanation. ABC, your mediocre criteria for discontinuing a show like that is just ridiculous. Show the rest of the series and watch it. You might find that excellence in programming is very refreshing.

Typical of the U.S tv system. Sell it to a British company it would appeal over here. Obviously not enough Gun ho shoot ’em up for the American market A real shame

Say it isn’t so. One of the best true stories. Wanted to see it through to the end. Two episodes hardly gives it a chance. Boo to ABC! How very unfair to viewers.

I am very upset that this show has been canceled with no word as to when the other episodes will air. I understand if the viewings are low to move the times but to totally cancel with no warning is very bad practice ABC. I am a die hard Scandal fan so I will watch but I will be skeptical to start another show. And another thing I record my shows on DVR so I wonder if they took that in to account when pooling these viewings. I was very confused last night I thought my husband deleted my recording… Read more »

This stinks like last weeks fish rolled up in a newspaper. Some of the acting was a little weak, etc. But after just two episodes? Did the program make the NSA nervous?

Very disappointing with all the terrible new shows on this year and you cancel the only one I worth watching. Terrible decision.

It is disheartening not to get to see the last 6 episodes. Shame on you ABC. I enjoyed the series and was upset when it didn’t come on at 9 tonight. What a disappointment!

Is there no one in charge of ABC? Whoever makes the final decision needs to find the unemployment line…..every time this network has a good show (which isn’t often) they cancel it!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!

This series was about one of the most important events to our country in the 1980s. You people at ABC are fools. I watched ABC news tonight for the first time. It’s a good news show, but it will be the last time I watch an ABC TV event of any kind.

Dear ABC Blockheads,

You don’t have THAT many good shows. Why do you think you can afford to cancel one of the few GOOD ones.

Really disappointed that this show has been cancelled. With all the really bad programming on tv these days I would think a show of this interest would be welcomed.

Is this another case of the government shutting down this worthwhile documentary of how the CIA works?? I enjoyed the first 2 episodes and was looking forward to watching the whole series!! Now they run old reruns of shark tank. We don’t need any more reality type shows that don’t contain anything of value for the viewing public. Apparently they don’t know how actual programing was done when TV was entertaining1 They stick us with garbage (That’s the cheapest way!!)

Old school was a show got a whole season before it was canceled! I for one enjoyed the show show. It seems to me if I enjoy a show it is pulled off the air and replaced by a show I will never watch! There are only 6 shows left, ABC please run them
