This drama is based on the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officer Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker). The story takes place in 1985 during the end of the Cold War.

Sandy and her partner Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) have vowed to find the mole that would turn out to be the most notorious traitor in US History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Sandy is in a race against time to save the Soviet intelligence officers from being caught and killed.

Also a beautiful wife and mother, Sandy lives her own double life and has vowed to stop at nothing until she uncovers the truth.

Series Finale:
Episode #8 — Avenger
Despite the task force being fully convinced of Ames’ guilt, Sandy seeks more definitive proof to convince the Justice Department to proceed with their own investigation. As the hunt closes in on Ames, Sandy’s commitment to the job pushes her husband’s patience and commitment to the brink. After Ames is finally caught and brought to justice, he mulls over a major decision — to go down defiantly or to confess and protect his wife and child. (Courtesy ABC)

What a bummer. This was a very well made series. I liken it to Jason Bourne or “The Americans”. Please bring it back. How/where can I watch episodes 3-8 please.

Definitely enjoyed the two episodes that were allowed to play. Not sure why you would allow them to air and allow people to get involved then take it off air. I hope they will be streamed online or something. Not a good decision.

This show was great! THIS was reality TV, not like A&E bearded hokey rednecks in camo that appeal to gun nuts and hate-mongers.

Only show I was watching on network TV. Now it is gone. Someone had their head in the wrong place. Sorry to see it go! Wish someone else would pick it up.

Why CANX even with low ratings? This was good drama that is quite limited on TV
now. Pls reconsider returning this, it is worth it for many of us.

Shame on you ABC for canceling a show like the Assets … Are you afraid someone in the viewing audience might learn something about the history of the United States rather than being anesthetised by the usual offerings on the network?

I am VERY UPSET makes me NOT want to watch this channel anymore as they just cancel anytime their ratings are not perfect…..GREAT ESPIONAGE STORIES are really hard to come by, but I LOVED this show….ABC has done this too many times with GOOD DRAMA !!! I WANT TO SEE ALL THE EPISODES !!!!!!!! ABC is not consumer friendly AT ALL…….All they care about are young people who watch NOTHING OF VALUE ……………….. so WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO REINSTATE THIS GREAT PROGRAM ????????????????????????? WE< THE PEOPLE ARE WAITING

This was a limited 8 episode series, not a full season show. And it was based on a true story. So didn’t it make sense to anyone at ABC to let it run to the end. Or sell it to cable where intelligent people ( with the exception of Duck Dynasty and Honey Boo Boo) watch television that actually makes you think. No wonder ABC is dipping in the ratings. Why don’t you find some more shows like America’s Funniest Videos, which seems to be your level of entertainment. Hope it goes to Netflix.

I watched both episodes twice so I could be on top of it and POOF, it’s gone. That’s why I hardly watch any new shows until I know for sure they won’t be yanked. It is a true story about our history. Shame on ABC for deciding what we want. I lost a lot of respect for ABC.

Add me to the list of irritated viewers. I thought my DVR mal- functioned. It was tough to hear at times and a bit tough to follow but as many of the others above note, engaging because of the actual reality of it (unlike your ‘bachelor franchise’ – ugh). So irritated. I want to see this. At least provide them for streaming because I suspect they are fully out of production.

Too bad, could have made a great series. Must have been too close to the real life happenings.

“The Assets” are worth finishing. What kind of trial is two episodes? It’s based on facts that made a major difference to this country’s safety when Ames was caught. Choices like this one by ABC are probably the reason I seldom watch any shows on that network. If you want an actual reality show, try American history !

Was this a political issue rather than low ratings? Did it make the CIA look bad or was this rubbing the Russians nose in an Olympic year? Show the remaining episodes or put the series on Blu-ray !
