canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

The Event: TV Show May Still Be Renewed for Season Two

by Trevor Kimball, May 13, 2011

Event saved and renewedWord came down today that NBC was cancelling The Event after one season. The serial drama drew positive numbers at the beginning but they have been in decline for much of the season.

The show may not be dead just yet though. Deadline reports that there are talks underway to continue the series elsewhere. Executive producer Steve Stark declined to comment but word is that Netflix may be interested in picking up the show. Netflix had no comment. There’s also supposedly been interest from cable and digital outlets.

Stark noted that they are investigating different options with the full support of Universal Media Studios, the show’s producer. He said, “NBC has been an amazing partner, it launched the show beautifully.”

Series creator Nick Wauters added, “We have a dedicated fan base, and we promised them we will deliver one way or another and will continue to tell our stories.”

Actor Ian Anthony Dale, Simon Lee on The Event, tweeted, “To our amazing fans, our time on NBC may be over, but we are working hard to find a new home that shares our collective enthusiasm.”

What do you think? Should The Event be saved? Where would be the best new home for the series? Would you pay to watch it?

Someone needs to save these serialized shows. The major networks obviously don’t support them.

Yes, it should most certainly be saved. I’ve gotten into so many new shows the past couple years only to have them cancelled after one season, I’d love to see just ONE of them saved!! And yes, I’d pay to continue watching it.

I really like The Event and the last few episodes have left me wanting more. I hope it is renewed somewhere. SyFy would be a good home for it. I don’t know how it would work with Netflix, but I hope it’s included with the monthly membership fee.

The Event is the best show on the air right now if its canceled I would have no reason for a tv. I keep my Monday nights clear just to watch this show. The event is the best thing that has happened to NBC in a long time and it would be a great lose for nbc if they don’t pick the show back up not just for a season two but until the plot is done. Nbc really has nothing else going for them other than law and order and I only watch that because the event comes on… Read more »

If the show must go, give it at least ONE…MORE…SEASON!!

We can’t let “The Event” end in a cliffhanger, it’s just not right! There must be proper closure to it! I’m one of the show’s greatest supporters! Keep it on!

I LOVE the Event! Every episode gives you just enough answers to feel watching it is worthwhile, but still maintaining an “edge of your seat” kind of suspense. I have never watched a show that is so good at doing this. I was a huge LOST fan, and The Event is the best show since LOST in my opinion. Really, really hoping it gets picked up for season two!!!
