Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

Sorry to see this show cancelled. Great characters, acting, family show. Beautiful settings, intelligent dialogue. Not much like it on the air. Very dissapointed. I hope NBC or USA airs all 13 episodes that were shot.
I enjoyed watching this show…it was a drama I could enjoy with my husband. I looked forward to it every week. I do think that the early time slot was an issue. Every parent is actively putting kids to bed at that point, so I usually DVR’d it and would watch it 2 hours later.
So just when it got interesting. We are left dangling with the teaser of why they have really been recruited to do their spy jobs. The faceless man at the end of the last episode really caught your interest. So why were they recruited. It’s like reading a mystery only to find out the last page in the whodunit is ripped out. Yuck to the network.
WOW. . . . . . . . . 😐 i am so pissed off right now. I watch these shows every week! i record them! the romance is compelling and the romance actually makes sense and it has chemistry. Not to mention the way normal couples could relate to them. Like “Hey, she keeps pestering him like i pester my boyfriend hahaha lol” and how they arent so Mr. And Mrs. Smith they are normal americans surving on their catering company. And yes there was another plot. I forgot the guys name but the old guy with white hair.… Read more »
I looked forward to this show every week. The cast was beautiful to watch and I loved the chemistry between them. It reminded me a bit of the show ‘Hart to Hart’. I will miss it.
I thought Undercovers was really interesting and a ‘clean’ show for a change.
It was different to see a married couple fighting crime together. Their chemistry, interesting locations and even a bit for a ‘foodie’ like me with their catering company scenes was good.
I am very disappointed that this show is cancelled. Maybe more advertising is a good idea.
I’m glad it is gone. Bad cast and bad plots
Bummer, I loved this show it had exciting action with out all the blood and groe that alot of other shows have. An i liked the fact their were married it was cute watching the jealous bits. NBC should have given it a chance!
I am also very disappointed with the canceling of the show; undercovers! The show’s executives should have given it more time at least to finish its first season. In the meantime more advertising and public relations from the main actors. perhaps coming out on the “extra”show or other talk shows would have attracted more viewers and increased your ratings. The settings, storyline, and especially the actors are perfect! Maybe the writers should have offered it to a different network!
I really enjoyed Undercovers. I was starting to feel like Networks were getting that we needed something that showed dramatic situations that took skill and thought, not just carnage to solve. I love the development of the characters. I hate reality shows. I agree it is hard to connect with shows knowing they may be canceled. I am 52, my son is 26, my daughter is 30. We all watch, some live and some DVR.
I loved the show. Very talented actors that, I thought, had very good chemistry together! Man, I am very disappointed that NBC cancelled the show. They should have given it a chance. Maybe change the timed slot or something. Everyone that I know that watches the show (of all races) were dissappointed that NBC didn’t give the show a chance!!! I know It’s all about the money, but on the other hand, NBC probably lost out on the chance to make a lot a money on this series. With just following alone that Boris has, there would have been a… Read more »
So sad to hear that Undercovers has been canceled. It was a GREAT show! My boys (8 & 15) watched it with me. It’s getting harder & harder to get into shows for fear of them being canceled.
We are sorry that the show is cancelled, both of us enjoyed it. We thought that a bit more suspense between shows would help but enjoyed it non the less. Maybe it will come back later – we can only hope.
i am really sorry to hear that the tv show undercovers is off the air i looked forward to watchin g even had it recorded on dvr i was really wonderig why it didnt record i really wish that they would put it back on the air
I am quite upset that ‘Undercovers’ is off the air! After looking through my guide over and over again I finally got online and was disappointed to find out it was canceled! So sad! My entire family look forward to this series! it has a bit of everything. Maybe if the was a different time slot like 9pm or a different day. Ho about BET can’t they take the show up! please do something.
