canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Vanished: FOX Series Cancelled & Won’t Return

by Trevor Kimball, November 17, 2006

cast of VANISHED on FoxThe network giveth and the network taketh away. FOX recently announced that it was pulling the struggling serial drama Vanished from its schedule for the next few weeks of sweeps. The upside for fans was that it was scheduled to return on December 1st. Not anymore.

FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and it won’t be returning to primetime at all. The series will be replaced by final episodes of Justice, another freshman drama that’s been cancelled.

The four remaining Vanished episodes (the last of which is called the “series finale”) will be shown online. A new segment will be available each Friday, the same day that NBC is posting new Kidnapped episodes. You can see the latest episode (episode #9, “The Cell”) right now by visiting FOX’s Vanished page on MySpace. Three episodes will be kept up at a time and the series finale will be posted online on Friday, December 8th.

There’s no word if Vanished will eventually appear on DVD. TV Series Finale home page

There’s probably some sort of licensing issue that is making them not allow non-US viewers to see the show. Maybe various networks in other parts of the world have rights to air the show, and don’t want people having access to it early. Regardless, you can find these Vanished episodes on bittorrent sites and download them there. That works regardless of what country you’re in.

This pisses me off…I wanted to see if they find Sarah alive and if the people responsible are ever caught, but now we won’t. With all of the crap that’s on TV now, this was actually a show I got into. I don’t do MySpace, so I guess I’ll never get to see how it ends. I think we need to boycott Fox, send them email and let them know that we want it back, pronto. Well, Fox has lost me as a viewer.

This is “Reunion” all over again! They never reunited, and this series has vanished. With so few episodes to go, why couldn’t FOX make them available for affiliates to run post-midnight one night as a marathon (for possible recording), selling some ads and not disappointing all of us who can’t get MySpace downloads because of computer incompatibility? Will FOX end the next 24 at noon?

I really like this show. Started watching and faithfully watched every episode. Couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Now I’ve found out it’s canceled. You never gave it a fair chance. What about those of us that watched, why don’t we get to see the final episodes on tv???

The cancllation of Vanished shows a lot of disrespect with regard to the viewers. With all respect in my opinion this serie is even better than 24 or prisonbrak. Now as a non-American we can not see the end. Unbelievable……

They did it to me last year with Reunion and now with Vanished. Maybe I should just stop watching Fox at all.

I just went to myspace.com/fox to see about watching “The Cell” and of course, they don’t support the Mac OS. Fox should make the final four episodes available for free on iTunes for Mac users. I thought the internet was supposed to be cross-platform compatible.

What is the reasoning for not letting non-Americans watch the rest of Vanished? We had been watching this show faithfully since it started and now we can’t watch the rest of the series? This is very unfair.
