There’s a new treasure on History. The network has announced their new series Billion Dollar Wreck will premiere next week on February 8th.

The series comes from executive producer Michael Bay and will follow “famed treasure hunter Martin Bayerle and his son Grant.”

Billion Dollar Wreck will follow Bayerle and his son as they look for treasure on the sunken cruise liner, RMS Republic. The Republic sank in 1909 and is reported to have 150,000 American Eagle gold coins aboard.

The series premieres on February 8th, at 10 p.m.

HISTORY TO PREMIERE NEW ORIGINAL SERIES “BILLION DOLLAR WRECK” PREMIERING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8 AT 10:00 PM ET/PT

EIGHT-PART SERIES UNCOVERS THE MYSTERIOUS QUEST TO SALVAGE OVER A BILLION DOLLARS IN GOLD ABOARD SUNKEN SHIP THE RMS REPUBLIC

NEW YORK, NY – February 1, 2016 – HISTORY will premiere the new eight-part series “Billion Dollar Wreck” from Original Productions in association with executive producer Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes Productions. The hour-long series follows famed treasure hunter Martin Bayerle and his son Grant as they embark on a complex expedition in pursuit of both personal redemption and a billion dollars’ worth of treasure aboard the renowned and mysterious sunken cruise liner, RMS Republic. “Billion Dollar Wreck” premieres Monday, February 8 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.

One of the largest and most luxurious ocean liners of its time, Republic sunk shortly after its departure from New York Harbor in the early hours of January 24, 1909. Considered unsinkable, the White Star ship collided with another vessel and now sits at the bottom of the Atlantic. Life-long treasure hunter Martin Bayerle has spent the past 35 years researching Republic and her reputed cargo of 150,000 American Eagle gold coins, a bounty worth billions today. Bayerle’s exhaustive investigation has turned up evidence that points to a deep-rooted cover-up which may involve some of the era’s biggest historical figures, from the Tsar of Russia to Theodore Roosevelt.

This is Bayerle’s second attempt to find what could be the largest sunken treasure in history. In 1987, he raised millions of dollars for an expedition to recover Republic’s gold, but came home empty-handed. The tragic fallout from the failed attempt destroyed his family, left one person dead, and culminated in a prison sentence for a shocking crime. Through the years Martin’s obsession with solving the Republic’s mystery only grew.

Now, reunited with his son Grant, Martin is returning to the Republic seeking redemption and one last shot at what might lie beneath. Armed with three decades worth of new research, he is convinced he now knows the precise location of this elusive treasure. Together, Martin and Grant will lead a team of salvage divers down the deep, dark and dangerous waters that have held Republic’s secrets hostage for a century.

“Billion Dollar Wreck” is produced for HISTORY by Original Productions and Platinum Dunes Productions. Philip D. Segal, Sarah Whalen and Jarrod Harlow are executive producers for Original Productions along with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form for Platinum Dunes Productions. Paul Cabana, Michael Stiller and Jim Pasquarella are executive producers for HISTORY.”

This is supposed to be a salvage story for lost treasure instead it’s a monkey humping a football they never dive instead they tangle anchor lines position the dive ship on the wrong location and have no idea of what their doing. Every week you tune in to see if they recover anything and most of the time all they do is try to justify why martin’s son is even on board he brings nothing to the table he doesn’t dive, he doesn’t have any experience in salvage operations and he’s not that bright

I found the show to be a redundant process never really providing an interest to tune in again…they need something of value to uncover to make this site worth watching…and please quit with the trial and murder, I got the point the first four times

Unfortunately, you can put this in the same category as the Oak Island series. No real content. Just an endless recycling of previously seen footage with some exaggerated drama sprinkled in. I tracked the minutes of footage that were actually new to the most recent 60 minute episode….4 minutes. The balance, minus commercials which are heavy, was made up of repeat footage from the prior episodes. I love the History Channel but they have lost their way over the years.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR BRAIN ON THIS CRAP SHOW. Liked it at first but it’s a bogus program. When they run out of content in the search, they revert back to the boring story about killing the blackmailer. In episode 5, I fast forwarded through 2 very long commercial breaks where they did NOTHING but untangle a mooring line from the prop shaft. (Hey, it’s a DIVE BOAT!! Clearing that line would be nothing — I did it on my own boat in cold Canadian waters without dive gear). After that they spent the final segment on the killing. I… Read more »

Please quit making these fake documentaries/dramas. You’re losing your true intellectual viewers. If we wanted to watch drama and fiction we would watch another channel. Have you not learned from “Mermaids the Body Found” or “Megalodon the New Evidence”. These don’t belong on History, Discovery, or The Learning Channel. Stay true to and viewers will respond. Integrity.

They advertise this as real people looking for a real treasure but after watching 1st episode it’s a insult to my intelligence.
Those actors can’t even memorize their lines.
