The oil may be running dry. Deadline reports that ABC has just reduced Blood & Oil‘s initial episode order down from 13 to 10.
The news comes the same day NBC cut their new drama The Player down from 13 episodes to nine.
Starring Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, Blood & Oil follows a young couple who move to the booming North Dakota oil fields to hit it big. The primetime soap premiered on September 27 to around 6.3 million viewers. But in recent weeks, ratings have declined by almost half.
The series has not been officially cancelled yet and will continue in its current timeslot until the tenth episode airs later this fall.

My family loves Blood & Oil and Don Johnson is perfect in his role. We are sick of the airwaves being filled with stupid reality shows that we never watch. Thank goodness for Netflix and Hulu to watch when reality shows air instead of good dramas.

I adore blood and oil,watch it from Costa Rica along with many of my friends.
Very disappointed BLOOD & OIL has been cancelled along with others like DALLAS. we get hooked then its cancelled. we are overloaded with ridiculous reality shows so it is a breath of fresh air to have shows like Blood & Oil, DALLAS, etc to look forward to. there would be a lot of HAPPY viewers if both those shows were to return.

YES I want to see more of the show. It’s a great show & I record it if I’m not going to be home. I just love it. Don Johnson is great in the show. So are all the others. You get us hooked & then suddenly you want to cancel the show. I got mad when they cancelled Dallas. That was a stupid more also. Again, we get hooked on a show & then “oh they going to cancel it”. this is a great show and don johnson is excellent in this along with the rest of the cast, i think abc is making a mistake.
Love the show. Please do not cancel. I hate football but agree it’s hours interfere with the football schedule.

The reason people stop watching is the football games interfere with programming. So when you tune in you either miss half of it or none at all.
