Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
We enjoyed the show. Though I must say season three was more like a soap opera but everyone was done an injustice by not seeing a season 4. Even a 2 part movie would be nice. Anything to tie up loose ends.
Season 4 needs to be done, and 5 too! Too many questions left without answer…. Love this tv serie, bring it back!
Absolutely season 4.So many un answered questions.
YES PLEASE BRING BACK!!!!
I really love Cedar Cove and have been pretty much binge watching on Super Channel……very disappointed it is cancelled!! Please bring it back!!!
Would like to see a fourth season , as the series was fantastic
I can’t believe they canceled Cedar Cove! I’m very disappointed. Maybe they can do a sequel?
Sad that I’m just seeing this series! Wished it was longer and would have kept going to season 4
I was very disappointed Hallmark dropped Cedar Cove
Season 4 . Hopefully they reconsider this point of view.
I would love to see Season 4 aired . Hopefully Hallmark
Will reconsider this decision . Please.
I just found Cedar cove! Love how each story was happily wrapped up with the characters surmounting the hurdles of life! So sad that there is no season 4!!!
Bring Cedar Cove back!
I was very disappointed to find out that there would be no more after season three. I love seeing the characters develop and the relationships were complex and interesting. I think it would be great to see a follow up movie, perhaps to tie up some of the loose ends. I have seen and thoroughly enjoyed all of the other movies mentioned in this article. I am a huge Hallmark fan!
I am HIGHLY disappointed that there has not been a Season 4 of Cedar Cove and would LOVE it if Hallmark Channel would reconsider their decision to cancel the series. Maybe even just one special episode to tie up all of the loose ends?
Very disappointed that “CC” did not continue. Also very frustrated that if it was the final it didn’t end with the completion of Hallmarks Happy Ending of Olivia with ‘at the very least’… with one of the two guy’s!
