Criminal Minds: Thomas Gibson Talks About His Season 12 Firing

by Jessica Pena, September 22, 2016

Criminal Minds TV show on CBS

What happened on the set of Criminal Minds? Recently, Thomas Gibson spoke out about his firing from the CBS series last month, Deadline reports.

Gibson, who played Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, was fired from the procedural after he allegedly kicked a producer while filming the upcoming 12th season.

Now, Gibson says the on-set incident was blown out of proportion:

We were shooting a scene late one night when I went to Virgil and told him there was a line that I thought contradicted an earlier line. He said, ‘Sorry, it’s necessary, and I absolutely have to have it.’ ” [He] started coming towards me. As he brushed past me, my foot came up and tapped him on the leg. If I hadn’t moved, he would have run into me. We had some choice words, for which I apologized the next day, and that was it. It was over. We shot the scene, I went home – and I never got to go back.”

Gibson says his pride was hurt as a result:

It seems like they’re trying to erase me from the show. That hurts. … My pride and reputation are hurt, but in the end I know the good work is what people will remember. I just need more opportunities to do good work and be a good guy.”

Season 12 of Criminal Minds premieres on September 28th.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Criminal Minds? Will you watch without Thomas Gibson?

I. cannot believe that the show let one of the best characters and actors go over something so petty! It shows that the really do not care about their audience!

I would like to see Thomas Gibson brought back to the show as Aron Hotchner.,I really like this show and have watched it since the first show aired on CBS. All the actors are excellent in their portrayal as BAU agents, but Hotchner completes the team! CBS BRING BACK THOMAS GIBSON!

I am getting very disappointed with CBS that used to be my very favorite network. It first started with Mike and Molly because she lost weight that is the most ridiculous reason to cancel the show. Aren’t they supposed to be trying to lose weight give me a break. Now Criminal Minds the absolute most wonderful show besides Big Bang Theory. Is Thomas Gibson goes I don’t think I can watch without him. Derick is gone which is heartbreaking. I like all the people there on the show but it feels like they used to be a family and it’s… Read more »

I am very disappointed that Thomas Gibson is no longer on Criminal Minds. Since Shemar Moore left, there is no reason for me to continue watching. Without the two of them, the show is no longer on my list of Must Watch.

I think CBS has let their television ratings go to their head, in that it is all about what the producers and department heads want now, and no longer about what the audience has to say. Thomas Gibbs was one of the remaining main characters left on the show. Once the ratings start to drop. I wonder which one of the staff members, producer maybe, who will be next to leave the show

I. know Abby is about 20 yrs older than her show persona shows. And who cares not me. But I got a short glimpse and you have to do something about her hands. They show her age. Fix them please.

First Shemar Moore and now Thomas Gibson?!!!? I’m done watching the show now. Without Agent Hochner and Agent Morgan it just seems empty.

CBS let the best eye candy walk? And now it’s the star Hotchner? Maybe you will get the msg the msg t. oldies are goodies. At least Michael Wetherly is still on tv. But CBS had better pay attention. Two other networks would be happy to pick up Where you left off.Ip

CBS!!! Nope!! I WILL NOT BE WATCHING without the STAR of the show!! Are you kidding me?? If you want the show to come to an end, y’all should’ve just concluded it last season!! Why let all of the shows stars walk away and try to change a good thing?! I don’t get you CBS and all the networks that do this! So, might as well expect the ratings to fall drastically and watch what was arguably the best show on television disappear into the abyss! Who’s leaving next?? AJ Cook? Matthew Gray Gubler?? Etc… I’m done with the show,… Read more »
