Doubt: Cancelled? CBS TV Show Pulled From Schedule

by Trevor Kimball, February 25, 2017

Doubt TV show on CBS: canceled? no season 2Well, that was quick. After just two weeks, CBS has pulled their new Doubt TV show from the Wednesday schedule. Has the series been cancelled? Will it be back?

The Doubt TV show stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis; Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; and Kobi Libii as Nick Brady. Sadie is a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client. Pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale) was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie has to hide her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill). Getting involved with her client could put Sadie’s career and happiness at risk — particularly if Billy is found guilty.  She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.

When the series debuted two weeks ago, there was no “doubt” that the new CBS drama series was already in trouble. The premiere attracted a meager 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.31 million viewers. This week’s installment drew a 0.60 rating with 4.03 million. Those figures are just too low for “the most-watched network” and CBS has now pulled Doubt from the schedule.

On March 1st, Doubt will be replaced by a rerun of Bull and, on March 8th, CBS will launch the second season of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. While CBS has not officially cancelled Doubt, there’s no chance that they’ll be renewing it for a second season.

The network ordered 13 episodes of Doubt and all of them have reportedly been completed. Prior to the series being pulled, CBS had only scheduled four more installments of Doubt. In the past, CBS has burned off leftover episodes of cancelled series on Saturday nights over the summer months.

What do you think? Do you like the Doubt TV show? Do you think that CBS should cancel the series? Would you watch the remaining episodes?

Agree episode 2 was bad. Too many stories, hard to keep track. They should have ended the Doctor murder story in first episode. Needed good writing and episode 2 shows there are no good writers

I thought Doubt was good and I have it to DVR so I don’t miss it because of our schedule. CBS needs to consider what else is going on in the world before canceling a perfectly good show. Was there a big football game? Other sport? Bad weather where thousands of people were without power during that hour? Ratings aren’t as cut and dried as they seem to think.

CBS is making a serious mistake. I love Doubt. This show wasn’t even given a chance. Another network needs to snap it up.

Like Doubt tired of CBS keeping crap like Kevin and dumping shows. Can’t trust any new shows CBS brings out.

Doubt will be cancelled those ratings are horrible, series premier gave us an insight into reason to believe that Code Black will be renewed with these ratings for Doubt, and episode 2 was even worse and therefore got pulled

CBS what are you thinking??!! Why does this station constantly cancel the decent and good programs and leave and renew the crap that you do??? I’m beginning to think I should just start watching other stations and not even try to watch any new shows you offer. Scorpion, Criminal Minds, Pure Genius, and Code Black to name a few of the best programs you’ve had and most have been cancelled or are still waiting to be renewed.

Doubt will be run out during the summer and then CANCELLED! Trying to compare Doubt to The Big Bang Theory is ridiculous.

Seemed like a poor remake of the Boston Legal concept. Elliot Gould was starting to be a good Denny Craine type as a good lawyer with something odd about him. Dule Hill brought his Gus Burton character type of bring the other guy back to reality from Psych. Unfortunatley the Alan Shore element that Katherine Heigl was supposed to bring just wasn’t successful. I think more by the writing than the acting but the Sadie character was what made the show disapointing.

You must be kidding right? The Big Bang Theory is the highest rated show on ALL of network TV at 14.60 million viewers. No network in their right minds would dare cancel a show that highly rated ever.. Doubt premiered at 5.03 million viewers and dropped to 4.03 million viewers the very next week. The writing was on the wall for that show the minute they put Katherine Heigl as lead character. The last show she was on got canceled as well. She has not done well for herself since she screwed up and go released from Grey’s Anatomy on ABC,… Read more »

No, CBS would never cancel The Big Bang Theory because it is the highest rated show of every TV network at 14.60 million viewers. Networks are about ratings and Doubt only premiered at 5.3 million viewers and dropped to 4.0 the very next week. The writing was clearly on the wall for that show to be canceled.
