ABC’s had mixed success with their new shows this year, but what about Downward Dog? The TV show just premiered in May and we want to know if you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season.
Based on the web series of the same name, the comedy follows the day-to-day life of Nan (Allison Tolman), as told by her increasingly lonely and philosophical dog, Martin (voiced by Samm Hodges). The cast also includes Lucas Neff, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Barry Rothbart, Siovhan Christensen, Ayden Mayeri, and Andrew Gorell.
Downward Dog has brought in pretty poor ratings for ABC so far. Currently, the sitcom is earning an average rating of 0.87 in the 18-49 demo and 4.40 million viewers. The network held the comedy until very late in the season and produced just eight episodes — likely signs that ABC doesn’t have a lot of faith in the show.
However, even with falling ratings, does Downward Dog deserve a second chance in your book? What do you think? Should ABC renew this canine comedy or cancel it?
6/24 update: ABC has cancelled the Downward Dog TV show after one season. Details here.
If ABC wants better rattings for a decent show, put it on in prime time, on a good day!!
Maybe they can have an episode were Martin likes bitting corporate executives ,when they don’t use common sense!
Excellent show!
That dog lovers can relate !
Everyone I know just loves the show. I really hope they keep it running.
Yes I would wacth season two, it took an ep or two for me to get hooked but now that I am I would watch.
Give Martin and Nan another shot.
I would certainly watch season two, but the show needs some tweaking. The dog is really the only funny part of the show. If the dog wasn’t there, would you watch these human characters? IMHO, it needs to make the human storylines interesting enough that we *would* watch them even if the dog wasn’t so funny.
I love the show…… Please renew it……
I good cry during almost every single episode of Downward Dog. It’s funny, cute, and relatable. I enjoy this show so much, please don’t give up on it yet! People live such busy lives and have so many choices on tv, Netflix, Hulu, etc…. it takes time for people to decide if a show is worth their time….so right now someone might be giving up a show and need to find another show that they like….they could find DD and fall in love – that’s what happened to me!
Please keep. It hasn’t been on long enough for other to catch on. It is witty with real people and characters. Love it!
There are so many Craig shows on, too much reality, etc. This is a thinking, funny, off color comedy that if you just pay attention a little bit…PUT DOWN THE DAMN CELL PHONE….actually watch it and there are some wonderfully crafted stories all of us that have shared a life with a pet can relate to. PLEASE ABC, GIVE THIS A CHANCE. It is light hearted witty and in these times of 24/7 garbage on the air….this is really a gem. Dont make the mistake of getting rid of it. It was started way too late in the season and… Read more »
Love love love this show! Please please renew!! Give Martin and Nan more time to build their fan base!
I’m mildy interested in the human characters in the show, but I can not stand the dog’s personality. His lines are awful. It’s a shame because he’s a cute dog; if his character was well-written and funny it could be a good show. The awful stuff he says is like nails on a chalkboard.
Want my Downward Dog, love, love, that show, it is NOT like all the other shows that are all the same. So many people people have a pet & they can relate. Love the dog KEEP this show, love it. So many shows all about sex, affairs, sick of all that stuff. Keep it!!!
I can’t wait to watch every week!! Of course I will watch season 2 already looking forward!!!
We look forward to this show i wish it was on 2 times a week. Really my husband and I love it. We tell family and friends to watch it.
I love Downward Dog! It’s made me laugh, cry and think…please keep it on!
Let’s keep going! This is a light & airy little show with a wonderful cast & is worth the gamble. Besides, who doesn’t love a talking animal?
