Should NBC return to the Land of Oz? The network’s freshman series Emerald City just ended its first season on March 3rd, but should it be renewed for second two?
Based on the books by L. Frank Baum, the Emerald City fantasy drama follows Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona), a young woman who is transported from Kansas to a mystical and mysterious land called “Oz.” The cast also includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season one of Emerald City debuted on January 6th to low ratings, earning a 1.00 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.485 million viewers. From there, the numbers declined further. It would seem that viewer interest was waning. The show’s first season only managed to average a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.02 million viewers — making it the lowest-rated new series on NBC.

It was defiantly a great and unique spin off of The Wizard of Oz a keeper for sure
I absolutely would watch more of this show on any station or format. It is superbly made with talented actors, well written scripts realistic characters that I can relate to and care about. I look forward to each episode. This is the first series on NBC that I’ve enjoyed this much in years. It’s unique and interesting not some stale cop lawyer or doctor show. I would be really upset if it gets cancelled. I also would hope it gets moved to a better night and time and gets promoted like it deserves.

I know the rating system sucks, but that’s what they use to figure out how much they can ask for commercials, money wise. But I Love the show and would watch it. Hopefully, if NBC doesn’t renewal it, another channel will. Maybe SyFy, then they can have another show that is Original. Since they like putting that on all of those Canadian shows.
Rating systems aren’t really accurate. I’ve watched this show on demand and it’s on other media as well like the fire stick.

Yes I would watch it however; it needs a bit more action in it. I love the characters/actors/actresses. This could be a great show because there’s so many storyline’s that can be told etc etc … Plz give it one more season to prove their selves to you. I know they can do it!
I watched every episode of EC and enjoyed each minute. I definitely want to see another season! I’m sorry to hear it received such low ratings. I normally don’t watch the three networks, but I had to check out EC when my sister told me about it. I was hooked after the first episode! Please bring it back!!
Yes, absolutely a great show. Problematic was airing on a friday night, its a busy time for most viewers. Also ads waned immediately. Please renew 2nd season. Its the only scifi thats not laden with sexual everything. Its true scifi!

Typical NBC way of thinking. Schedule it for Friday night and think it’s going to get high ratings in the 18-49 age range. It’s a great twist on a classic story and should be allowed to continue. I too watch it on VOD because I AM NOT HOME ON FRIDAY NIGHT you NBC idiots! Schedule it for another night and watch the ratings improve…if they don’t put it in the same time slots of the other popular shows. There are plenty of other less than entertaining shows on NBC. This is not one of them!
