The Grinder isn’t the only show from FOX’s Tuesday night block to be cancelled. TVLine reports the network has also cancelled Grandfathered after one season.
The comedy starred John Stamos as an aging ladies’ man who discovers not only does he have a son (Josh Peck) he never knew about, but he also has a new granddaughter. Paget Brewster, Christina Milian, Kelly Jenrette, and Ravi Patel also starred.
Ratings were never particularly high during Grandfathered‘s first season, with the show only receiving an average of .92 in the 18-49 demo and a total of 2.728 million viewers.
Josh Peck confirmed the cancellation on his Twitter:

This was one of the funniest shows along with the Grinder. I am really disappointed that they cancelled them both
I absolutely loved Grandfathered. It was one of the few family shows out there. It was up against NCIS, and The Voice, so there was a hugh competitive for ratings. It’s hard to compete against NCIS, but it was a family show, and if in a different time slot, would do very well. It’s unfortunate that Grandfathered was cancelled, and the garbage reality shows continue to air. Bad decision for Fox..

Does anyone of any importance read theses posts? I can not believe you would end grandfathered like you did. It was a funny show. Sell it to someone else. I want to see more and so does my family.

I loved the show and the network never even gave it a chance to take off. Stupid decision by the network, this show had the potential to go for years, and the little girl was a fantastic little actreess

I guess over 2 million viewers isn’t considered a large audience??? A great family show seems to be not accepted by the sponsers and the networks!!! I guess netflix is the way to go. Fox should start listening to the viewing audience and give “Grandfather” another run. Too good of a show to scrap it!!! Be smart and give the fans what they want.
Very sad! I was so few TV shows now and this was one of them. I really liked this show! The cast was great & the girls that play Edie (Emelia and Layla Golfieri) are so adorable. I will miss this show very much 🙁
This cancellation clearly demonstrates the ageism that exists in the entertainment industry. If you reach 50 you no longer matter.
The advertisers and executives do not GET the concept of streaming. No longer do we have to arrange to be home to watch our favorite shows. TIVO and streaming make it so I can watch WHAT I want WHEN I want to watch it.
They are making 21st Century decisions using 20th Century technology (overnight ratings).

I loved that show it was so whitty ! Give it another chance no good comedies anymore !
I thought the actors were funny and original . I watched every week. I think one season is not enough time to capture a large audience but it’s a cutthroat business for sure.
Hopefully Paget will get a new project right away.
