Hunting Hitler: Coming to History; November 2015

by Cindy McLennan, October 14, 2015

History_channel_logo

HISTORY® (formerly the History Channel) announces its new series, Hunting Hitler. Hunting Hitler premieres Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10:00pm ET/PT. Hunting Hitler asks the question: Did Hitler survive? The new investigative series features CIA veteran Bob Baer and war crimes investigator Dr. John Cencich, leading the ultimate manhunt. Hunting Hitler is planned as an eight-part series.

Here’s the press release from parent-company, A&E Networks:

DID HITLER SURVIVE WWII? HISTORY EXPLORES THE THEORY THAT ADOLF HITLER SUCCESSFULLY ESCAPED FROM THE BUNKER IN THE NEW SERIES “HUNTING HITLER”

EIGHT-PART SERIES PREMIERES TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 AT 10 PM ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY –October 13, 2015 – In 2014, the FBI declassified over 700 pages of secret documents suggesting the possibility that Adolf Hitler may have survived and fled to South America after the fall of Nazi Germany. A recently unearthed memo from legendary FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover states, “American Army officials in Germany have not located Hitler’s body nor is there any reliable source that will say definitely that Hitler is dead.” HISTORY’S new eight-part series “Hunting Hitler” follows a team of renowned investigators as they reopen the world’s most famous cold case in a definitive search to discover if one of history’s most notorious war criminals, Adolf Hitler, actually survived World War II. “Hunting Hitler,” premieres Tuesday, November 10 at 10PM ET/PT.

Is it conceivable that the world’s most wanted man pulled off history’s greatest disappearing act in hopes of possibly one day reclaiming the Nazi dream? Bob Baer, a 21-year CIA veteran and one of the most respected military intelligence minds in the world and premier war crimes investigator Dr. John Cencich lead a team of International military experts on the ultimate manhunt. Throughout the series the experts including International investigators, Nazi hunters, forensic scientists and journalists will examine the compelling mystery surrounding one the most infamous deaths of the 20th Century. With declassified worldwide intelligence providing a wealth of new clues and modern technology never before available, Baer has reopened this 70-year-old cold case to execute a global death claims investigation. From uncovering a mysterious Nazi lair deep in the Argentinian jungle to mysterious plane wreckage in a Columbian marsh, and diving for evidence of a missing U-Boat that could have shuttled Hitler out of Europe as Germany collapsed, the team will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

Internationally, “Hunting Hitler” will air on HISTORY across 180+ territories. A+E Networks handles worldwide distribution for “Hunting Hitler.”

“Hunting Hitler” is produced for HISTORY by Karga Seven Pictures. Emre Sahin, Sarah Wetherbee and Kelly McPherson are executive producers for Karga Seven Pictures. Jason Wolf also serves as Executive Producer. Tim Healy is executive producer for HISTORY.

HISTORY®, now reaching more than 96 million homes, is the leading destination for award-winning original series and specials that connect viewers with history in an informative, immersive and entertaining manner across all platforms. The network’s all-original programming slate, including scripted event programming, features a roster of hit series including American Pickers®, American Restoration™, Ax Men™, Counting Cars™, Pawn Stars® and Swamp People® as well as HISTORY®’s first scripted series Vikings, and epic mini-series and special programming such as The Bible, The Men Who Built America, Houdini, Sons of Liberty and the Emmy® Award-winning Hatfields & McCoys, Gettysburg, Vietnam in HD, America The Story of Us® and 102 Minutes That Changed America. I really liked this show, it needs to be seen. Why did you drop this show right in the middle of the search. They got really close in the creepy villa in South America.
Bring back the program. I want to know what the Antarctica link is as well.

This series is absolute nonsense on so many levels it defies short description. It rests on totally erroneous foundations which, if examined, remove the raison d’etre of the whole ludicrous project. We’re repeatedly told that there is no evidence for Hitler’s death by suicide. This is nonsense. Many people who were present in the bunker whilst this occurred survived the war – and many of them also survived interrogation by Soviet intelligence with whom they spent a few relaxing years. With small variations they all told an identical story. The bunker “garden” was shelled heavily both during and after the… Read more »

My neighbor, in her 90’s, met Hitler and was a young nanny to one of his henchmen. From Prussia, she lived in Berlin all during the war. She states there was an official, Reich radio and newspaper and underground versions. At the end of the war, the Reich stated Hitler had died in glory. The underground paper said he’d escaped and even published a picture of his boarding a plane. She’s 100% certain he escaped. A doctor who knew her wealthy family, all killed by the Reich, told her he’d performed plastic surgery on Hitler. The Russia’s stated only a… Read more »

We’re hoping that you’re going to be bringing out season 2. Everyone has been taught that he died in 1945. And the truth needs to be told if he did or didn’t ? So please bring season 2 on.

This series is an outrage. Just because something is possible is no proof that it happened. Time after time the investigative team fail time to prove Hitler escaped to South America. This series is just one shaggy-dog story after another. Hitler died in Berlin in 1945. He never escaped. What’s so depressing about many Hitler survivalists and their supporters is their failure to do any serious reading. Hence they spout nonsense. The “Hunting Hitler” series is a disgrace – shoddily researched and defamatory. The programs smear serious historians and institutions that have spent decades investigating Hitler’s death and encourage the… Read more »

I think it is possible he died in the bunker for sure, but to counter your argument with your own argument, what is your proof that he died in the bunker in 1945?

Testimony from his supporters in the bunker? None of whom actually saw his body. The skull the Russians recovered? That was proven to be a female skull by an American scientist. What other facts lead you to believe he died in the bunker? I’m not trying to be a smartass.. I legitimately want to know why you are so sure.

Ryan … I’ve been reading about this subject since the 1950s and made umpteen programs about WW2 for BBC radio. No serious historian or biographer of Hitler has ever subscribed to the theory that Hitler escaped in 1945. Nor has anyone – least of all this series – produced any tangible evidence that he did. If you legitimately want to know why I am so sure then you need to read some authoritative books. I suggest people start by reading “THE LAST DAYS OF HITLER – Legend, Evidence and Truth” by Anton Joachimsthaler. This is crammed with eye witness reports.… Read more »

You didn’t answer the question at all. All you gave us was your opinion and a lead to someone else’s opinion. No proof. So quit your crying and let other people explore their own opinions as well, because that is all you have to stand on anyway is your own opinion about what happened in the bunker.

David …Your comment – ‘everything points to him escaping and nothing points to him dieing in Berlin!!!’ – is false. Name one major historian or biographer who supports that claim. In March 2012 Sergio Widder, the Latin America director of Nazi hunters the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said: “Argentina was the main haven for Nazi war criminals. Men like Mengele and Eichmann were protected by the Argentine state. But there is no serious evidence Hitler survived the war, let alone came to Argentina. These stories should be for novels, not history.”‘ The Simon Wiesenthal Center is the world’s leading Nazi hunting… Read more »

Roger really??…
So you have to have an authoritative speculation to base your own opinion, come on mate, step outside, have an original thought and have courage to to take your first step. Stop trying ride along on someone elses heals. If you allways have to have an “intellectual peer” (pier) to base your own opinion, then im sorry your ship of thought will never sail out of the harbor, and my oh my, how can you fathom everything when you are still tied at the docks, waiting to be told.

David … In addition to my previous comments I have now published a critical review of the History Channel’s series “Hunting Hitler”. It reveals the scandal behind the series, is over 8,000 words long and examines in detail why I think these programs are untrue. The article is called THE BIG READ: CARRY ON HUNTING HITLER … People can find it on this website:-

The Pipeline – where history is tomorrow’s news

http://thepipeline.info/blog/2016/04/30/the-big-read-carry-on-hunting-hitler/

You can also find another article on the Pipeline website that examines the inadequacies of this series.

Enjoy!

You said it yourself, “just because something is possible is no proof that it happened.” The show never asserts that Hitler escape, but rather shows evidence and testimony that it is plausible, just as was done to form the conclusion that hurler killed himself. You, my friend, have stated that you know “he died in Berlin in 1945.” Certainly you were not there, and thus are not qualified to say either way. Even Stalin himself believed Hitller to have escaped, and the information/proof the historians had used in the past has proven problematic after using DNA technology. This show provides… Read more »

Joe … You’ll be telling me next I was never on the Titanic and therefore I have no proof the ship hit an iceberg and sank. Look, do some proper reading. It’s massive! No – I repeat – no reputable biographer or historian believes Hitler survived the war. In my long review on PipeLine I have detailed the faults in this TV series. It’s junk. The team failed to find any evidence that Hitler escaped. .

ANY serious historian is Always ready to fold in new information to clarify the historic consensus.
Calling for heads-to-roll at the history channel, is a clear sign of a bias.
Who knows the origin of this bias.
Concussion: you don’t need the history channel, me or even historians to support your beliefs. Anyone, and I mean anyone who thinks they KNOW what happens without witnessing it for themselves, will never admit there own egos failing. Good luck living in the dark, it’s comfortable for many.

David Maris … What are you on about? Since this wretched series was first broadcast the History Channel has gone ahead and inflicted a second series of programs on unsuspecting viewers – 16 altogether – each costing $2 million. And what have they found? NOTHING when it comes to Hitler. I’m calling for heads to roll at the HC because the program makers are broadcasting fake history. There is no convincing evidence that Hitler escaped and the HC fails to find any. As for your remark: ‘Anyone, and I mean anyone who thinks they KNOW what happens without witnessing it… Read more »
