DECEMBER 14, 2015

HISTORY® TO PREMIERE NEW MILITARY DOCU-SERIES ‘LIVE TO TELL’ ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 10 AT 10PM ET/PT

From Executive Producer Peter Berg, Series Gives Rare First Person Accounts of Recent U.S. Special Operations Forces Missions in the War on Terror

NEW YORK, NY –December 14, 2015 – HISTORY will premiere the new docu-series “Live to Tell,” from executive producer Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) and his non-scripted shingle Film 45. The eight episode hour-long series gives viewers a personal, intimate and revealing look into recent U.S. Special Operations Forces missions, as told by those who experienced the front lines of the ongoing War on Terror. “Live to Tell,” will premiere on Sunday, January 10 at 10PM ET/PT.

Since 2001, the Army Rangers, the Navy Seals and the Green Berets have been fighting the War on Terror. It remains the longest war in American history. For the past 15 years, they have been at the tip of the spear, honorably risking their lives for their country and one another. “Live to Tell” is a harrowing and impactful portrayal of the triumphs and sacrifices the United States Special Operations Forces have endured on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq. Driven by first person storytelling, archival footage and original cinematic sequences, each episode is a visceral perspective of the human experience of war.

“Live to Tell” will feature the stories of Charlie Platoon and the story of Marc Lee; The Red Wings Recovery – the Army Rangers recovery story of Marcus Luttrell, the United States Navy SEAL which the 2013 film, Lone Survivor, was based off of; A Battle for Haditha Dam – a strategically key location in Operation Iraqi Freedom; Task Force Merrill –a team of U.S. Army Rangers that set out on a mission to engage the Taliban and gather intelligence; Roberts Ridge – a quick reaction force of U.S. Army Rangers that endured the snowy mountains of Afghanistan to rescue a missing Navy SEAL; Objective Breton – a group of U.S. Army Rangers who went after a jihadist network; Ranger Machine – in Iraq in 2006, a team of U.S. Army Rangers lead a covert operation to take out a group of Al-Qaeda high value targets; and The Green Berets of 7115 – a group of Special Forces got ambushed by Taliban fighters and had to fight their way to safety after a teammate is critically shot.

This series is produced by Film 45 for HISTORY. Executive Producers from Film 45 are Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, “Friday Night Lights”), Matt Goldberg (“State of Play,” “The Sixties”) and Brandon Carroll (“Will of the Warrior”). Matt Ginsburg and Paul Cabana are Executive Producers for HISTORY.

Pretty sure this show is on again tonight, 11/11. Only it’s now called Warfighters. There is a Veterans day marathon starting at 4pm est. Not sure why it was rebranded but the episodes have the same titles and disctiptions an the live to tell episodes and is being introduced by Peter Berg.

Absolutely a great show. I served in Iraq and though it may seem strange to some to want to see this show but it is a huge part of me and I will always have what took place and what we did over there. As a veteran of the Iraq war I like to hear what my other brothers and sisters did and went through.

Will there EVER come a time that this site or history channel actually answers the question. WHERE IS THE LAST 4 OF THE 8 EPISODES??? My father was a green beret for 23 years. I served my country for 5. These stories need to be told so these soldiers find peace in what they had to do. Please don’t cancel this but if you do at least let the general public know what is happening. Thank you

I’m hooked on this show and I have my children hooked as well. We are disappointed that it hasn’t been on in a couple of weeks. Please continue with the series. These are important stories that need to be told and I love that my children are developing a new understanding of the sacrifices to our armed forces.

There were only 4 shows that were featured, are the other 4 going to be shown? I really love the show and would like to see the other 4, it says it was a 8 series program. Hope they show the other 4.

I was somewhat excited to see the story being told. My husband was in the airborne. Joined when he was 18 a while before 9/11. He was one of the first into Baghdad. I only feel bad about this show because they fail to represent everyone. I feel like they only show the teams and stories Americans want to hear. Not many are seals or Rangers but those are the only stories. Yay for all our hulks but our heroes have fought at every level and sacrificed either their lives or their futures. They deserve respect at every level.

Too bad this series and the author of this article failed to account for the role of MARSOC Forces within SOCOM and these two wars.

Sp, I’m sorry my article disappointed you. I meant and mean no disrespect to United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), nor to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM or SOCOM).

As the series is yet to air, and this is a premiere announcement, I only have the network press release to work with. I did not want to either add or detract from the network’s series description.

Thank you for reading and for your insightful comment.
