Esquire is bringing a new series to its network next month. The new series, titled Joyride, is being brought to the network by the same team that created Car Matchmaker, and it will feature a group of celebrity car fanatics as hosts.
Esquire shared a press release detailing the new series. Check it out below.
The team behind Esquire Network’s popular franchise “Car Matchmaker” is bringing car-obsessed viewers the new six-episode, half-hour series “Joyride,” featuring hosts: rapper T-Pain; professional racecar driver Brian Vickers; actress Mischa Barton; and actor Oliver Trevena. Each episode will feature the four celebrity auto fanatics as they hit the road in some of the most incredible new and vintage cars out there and push them to the limit with exciting and comical test, battling each other to determine once and for all the absolute best cars of all time in a variety of categories. “Joyride” will premiere on November 15 at 10pm ET/PT only on Esquire Network.
“Esquire Network’s viewers have a huge appetite and passion for cars, and we are excited to partner with the crew at Critical Content again to bring this new series to air,” said Matt Hanna, EVP, Original Programming, Esquire Network. “Our four dynamic and highly opinionated hosts – T-Pain, Brian, Mischa and Oliver – each have a very personal connection and life-long obsession with cars. And we know that getting them to agree on one particular automobile each episode will fuel an engaging debate that is not only very educational, but also highly entertaining.”
In each episode, the celebrity hosts will go on a quest to find the best car in a range of styles and eras, from cutting edge current models to high-end classics. They will put their passionate opinions and personal driving skills to the test as they take the wheels of four beautiful, unique and aspirational cars, and ultimately choose a winner at the end of each episode. With years of knowledge and really strong viewpoints, these four hosts take car testing to new, comical heights. What better way to find the “Best British Car” than to get a “test ride” in the back-seat to see how luxurious the car really is. And you can only find the “Best 80s Car” while rocking out to a mixed tape from that hair-band era. Throughout the run of the series, viewers will not only get to know these celebrity drivers as they go through these funny and thrilling test drives, but they will also learn practical take home knowledge about all of the vehicles.
Car categories will include: Best Classic Truck, Best British Car, Best 80s Car, Best Car for a First Time Driver, Best Muscle Car of the 1960s and Best Midlife Crisis Car.
As an avid car collector and restoration enthusiast, two-time Grammy award winning artist, T-Pain knows his way under and above the hoods of a plethora of cars, especially old school and exotic cars of which he has a love for. He recently sold his beloved Bugatti and picked up a Ferrari 458, a brand new Maclaren and Lamborghini Aventador, adding to his collection of over 30 cars.
As a diverse motorsports professional, Brian Vickers has won three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Races, a NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship (2003), participated in the prestigious 24 Hours of LeMans. His career has seen him drive for Hendrick Motorsports, Red Bull Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing, and Stewart Haas Racing. Off the track he has represented marquee brands Toyota, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and more. Brian is currently a TV personality supporting NASCAR Programming for a series broadcast partner.
Mischa is an actress best known for her role on “The O.C.” She will soon be seen in the feature film “Father” opposite Ann-Margaret and Daryl Hannah. Barton has a love for classic and European luxury cars and has an ever-growing collection of vintage Cadillacs. She has even learned how to restore old cars on her own.
Oliver spent most of his childhood in his Dad’s car dealership so a passion for cars is in Trevena’s blood. The British actor and host of “Young Hollywood” & “Car Collectors New York” loves to push cars to their limits, whether he’s racing cars in the Bullrun Rally or going off-road in the Serengeti.
“Joyride” is produced by Critical Content with Tom Forman, Jon Beyer, Ellen Rakieten and Tony Yates serving as executive producers.
