canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Legends: Season Two Renewal for TNT TV Show

by Trevor Kimball, December 4, 2014

Legends TV show on TNT: season 2It looks like TNT is committed to airing what they consider more “edgy” content. They’ve renewed their low-rated Legends series for a second season of 10 episodes.

In the same day ratings, the first season of Legends averaged 1.53 million viewers with a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those numbers are significantly lower than those of Perception and Dallas — two shows that were recently cancelled.

Here’s the press release:

TNT Orders Second Season of Hit Drama Series Legends

TNT has ordered a second season of its exciting drama series Legends, starring Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings). The show is a key part of TNT’s ongoing expansion into high-quality genre fare, which also includes the summer blockbuster series The Last Ship and the upcoming series The Librarians. Legends is produced by Fox 21, with Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24) serving as executive producer. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for season 2, with plans to launch next year.

Legends is based on the award-winning book by master spy novelist Robert Littell. In the series, Bean plays Martin Odum, an undercover agent working for the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations (DCO) division. Martin has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job. But he begins to question his own identity when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t the man he believes himself to be.

The first season of Legends averaged 3.2 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. When viewing across TNT’s multiple platforms is factored in, the show’s reach jumps to 6.5 million viewers through linear telecasts, DVR viewing, set-top VOD and digital on-demand.

What do you think? Do you like the Legends TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a second season?

Thanks for renewing!! Don’t despair many great classics took a bit to get many interested. Although I wish you’d reconsider renewing Rush & Perception. Loved them also!

I love this show and Sean Bean is wonderful in it. The writing is good & I would hate to see this show end. Kudos to TNT for taking a chance.

NEVER WATCHED LEGENDS. I DID WATCH PERCEPTION AND DALLAS AND LOVED THEM BOTH. WHY IS TNT REMOVING 2 GREAT SHOWS TO CONTINUE WITH LEGENDS WHICH HAD POOR RATINGS? BRING BACK PERCEPTIONS AND DALLAS.

I like Sean Bean, so I’ll give this a watch or two. But it amuses me to see TNT call a low-rated show a “hit.” Marketing people, gotta love’em. 🙂

I am always accused of enjoying “chick flicks”, which I find degrading. Nonetheless, Legends is a GREAT SHOW and SHOULD be renewed another season! In fact, it should be ongoing until the leading actor is ready to call it quits.

The talent is there along with good writing and ideas.

They did not renew Rush and now flirting to do the same with Legends?!?!?!? You have to be kidding!

I suppose TNT wants the viewers to accede to more reality shows. UGH!

Come on TNT!

I love Legends. It kept me on the edge of my seat every show. I may be biased because I am a huge Sean Bean fan and that is the reason I wanted to watch it in the first place, but the show turned out to be a winner. I am so happy that it was renewed for another season.

Brilliant News, Here in the UK we don’t get much chance to have a say in whats canned or not

With all the US made shows on tv over here, we should be counted also, I’m sure a lot of good shows would stay and a lot of US crap would be canned, I mean how can Glee still be on, it’s utter crap, yet they get rid of Dracula which was fantastic.

I like Legends, but then again I’m not in the target age. The question is will that target age ever warm up to a series where the primary character is a 55 year old actor? Sean has the abilities, but he’s not a young stud looking like he’s getting ready for a fashion shoot like so many shows today. He’s a tough and grizzled older guy who really fits the part well. My hat off to TNT for not just dumping a show they know is a well done show with good talent like the big three (Especially NBC) does… Read more »

TundraBeast,
I wholeheartedly agree with your comment regarding Sean Bean. He is not young but is idea of a seasonally skilled “legend”. I honestly do not believe they could have found a better actor – young or older – to play the part.
