canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Limitless: Cancelled Soon? Season Two Seems Unlikely

by Cindy McLennan, May 15, 2016

The Limitless TV show on CBS is likely to be cancelled. According to a Deadline report, the show is being shopped around. The Limitless season one finale aired April 26, 2016. Whether or not it ends up being the Limitless TV series finale remains to be seen.

On Limitless, when slacker Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) is given the drug NZT-48, it activates 100% of his brainpower. Since his has total recall of anything he has learned in his life, either actively or passively, the FBI wants to use him to help solve crimes. The Feds aren’t the only ones interested in exploiting Brian and the drug. The Limitless cast also includes: Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.

In the first season of Limitless, the hour-long drama’s ratings have been somewhat wanting. The show averaged a 1.34 in the 18-49 year-old viewer ratings demographic and attracted an average total audience of 7.049 million viewers. When sorted by the 18-49 demo, Limitless ranks 13th out of the 24 CBS scripted series we’re tracking in the 2015-2016 television season. In terms of total audience size, it is ranked 19th out of 24.

In an earlier report, prior to hearing that Limitless is being shopped around to other prospects, Deadline said:

Limitless, which is fully owned by CBS, is considered 50-50 at best and does not look very promising at the moment. It is a recognizable title that makes money for the studio internationally, comes from Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and is part of the network’s push into attracting younger audiences on the hourlong side that also has included Scorpion, already renewed for next season, and Supergirl.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Limitless TV series on CBS? If CBS cancels Limitless, would you follow it to another network?

Such an awesome show! I loved it and my kids loved it! I hope it gets renewed. I would definitely watch it next year even if it moves to another network.

It’s a great show! I’ll be very disappointed if it is cancelled. Much, much better than Scorpian or Super Girl!

This wasn’t the greatest show, but compared to other CBS shows, only one of two dramas I watched and one out of three CBS shows I watched. Looks like I will be streaming more shows.

So sad to hear Limitless is probably getting axed. My favorite new show this year…. So annoying to bother watching season 1 of something when it’s going to get axed. What is this FOX? But otherwise, thank you CBS, another nail in the coffin heading towards the eventual axing of my cable service entirely for Internet streaming. Keep renewing all the same old crappy out there, gives us consumers more incentives to just fire you entirely.

Uggh! Every time I get hooked on a show some idiot network cancels it! CBS Limitless attracts all ages of viewers – myself who is 62 whom I know is not the prime market but my daughter who is 32 is also hooked! This is one of the most unique and interesting shows to come around in a long time – please, please, PLEASE give it another season (or 2 or 3 or 4). It’s the only show on TV right now that I could barely wait to come on the next week. Listen to your viewers!!

This was my absolute favorite show of the year! The writing was incredible (for example, Ferris Bueller episode). I could never understand why more people didnt give this show a try. I would be bummed if someone doesnt pick this up!

Limitless is one of the few network shows I watch. There’s so little really good Sci-Fi on TV these days I really hate to see this gem bite the dust. It has great scriptwriting, acting and originality with a solid moral foundation. The comic book episode is the best hour if TV I’ve seen in a while. C’mon CBS (Les Moonves) do the right thing and let this fantastic creative team flaunt their stuff.

Limitless is a really good show that will grow its audience in its second season. renew it, too many stupid shows still on to consider dropping a promising new show.
