It’s official. Deadline reports CBS has confirmed the cancellation of their freshman series Limitless.
Based on the 2011 film, the series starred Jake McDorman, Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
Last week, we reported the drama was cancelled after CBS didn’t include it in their 2016-2017 programming lineup. Then, network chief Glenn Geller said the series was being shopped to other networks, but it looks as if plans failed to develop.
Ratings for the show’s first season were decent but low when compared to CBS’ other primetime series. Season one averaged a 1.34 in the 18-49 demo, with a total of 7.049 million viewers.
Showrunner Craig Sweeny confirmed the news on Twitter:

I think I´ll never watch any serie from BBC and CBS again. First Forever and now Limitless. Two of my favorite… Now it´s HBO series for me.
Loved this show…well written, funny…the Ferris Bueller episode was classic…watched it twice!!! Can’t believe other shows were renewed and this was cancelled….bad decision…
This is totally absurd. Why do the good series always get taken off air. Just keep it going and people will start to watch after some more advertising. UGHHHHH
Unbelievable. This is the most innovative, thought provoking and fun show to come out of the US for years. Why oh why would this be cancelled when it had the makings of something really different
I knew it. It’s Forever all over again. Why do the good/different procedurals die while SUV and its ilk go on and on and on….?

IT WAS A GREAT SHOW. if THESEE PEOPLE CANCEL SOMETHING LIKE THIS THEY SHOULD AT LEAST GO BACK AND FILM A PROPER ENDING TO ACTUALLY HAVE A FINALE TO THE SERIES. A SERIES THAT WE HAVE INVESTED OUR TIME IN.
Yet they renew Criminal Minds, Beyond Borders….go figure.
It appears, CBS, that Clueless Broadcasting Syndrome has struck again. Despite being a procedural, Limitless was fresh, liberating at times. Seems like smart, fresh shows are dumped for the possibility of what could be instead of lets build on what is. Economically more sound and of course, brings back Mr. Sands. Never in a show, have a liked the cool bad guy so much. Scary, yet fun, mysterious and deadly yet compassionate.
Can’t believe that CBS continues to renew stuff more suitable for VH1 & MTV with the likes of ‘Big Brother’ (stupid show). Yet they can a fun show like ‘Limitless’. #JustADumbMove

Have always been a fan of POI. Limitless was a fun show. Way better than the stupid Big Brother.
Hopefully #Netflix may consider picking up POI. Would be GR8!
well at least they got something right. now all they need to do is bring back from the dead person of interest. we all know that the things that drive the shows can’t happen, at least not yet. and person of interest did it much better
