canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Manhattan: Season Two Renewal for WGN America Series

by Trevor Kimball, October 14, 2014

Manahattan TV show on WGN: season 2Though its viewership has been quite small, Manahattan has been renewed for a second season on WGN America. The period TV show’s first season finale airs this Sunday night.

Set in 1943, Manhattan follows the residents of a secret town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Hidden away by the federal government, scientists live there with their families while they work to build the world’s first atomic bomb. The cast includes John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, Alexia Fast, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Daniel Stern, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Harry Lloyd, Michael Chernus, Eddie Shin, Daniel London, and Mark Moses.

The 11 episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 420,000 viewers. The cable channel is still very new to producing their own scripted series so likely has low expectations at this point.

What do you think? Do you like the Manhattan TV show? Do you plan to watch season two?

In their Oct. 27th Comments by the Los Alamos Historical Society pizza eating watchers, mention is made of spies, e.g. Klaus Fuchs. When Y’all come touring The Hill (and Br Ba sites, if you were into that), consider staying at a B&B in Albuquerque to soak up some spy lore http://tinyurl.com/4wg4hz9 Particularly read a couple of old, local newspaper articles by clicking “Articles about the Spy House History” at the bottom.
– Whoa! Abby Isaacs is certainly showing more chutzpah, in contrast to her more tender side as seen here this summer: http://tinyurl.com/qecjnfh

-Finally..Season’s 2.Episode 3???…am so glad to see filmakers are getting back to a more smooth flowing/concrete/easily transitioning happenstances!!!!
-Certainly, while many hope the series goes beyond the B….Gadget going off, t’would seem the espionage beyond that ….e.g. read ‘A Spy’s Guide to Sante Fe and Albuquerque’ by Held, would have much to offer, IMHO!

If this series was on any other cable network it would have won many awards! Come on Emmys, Golden Globes etc. The acting, cinematography, fashion, sets etc. are superior to any period piece on other networks. Love watching the history and characters unfold!

Watched all of season one. Eager to see season two. I like the show and excited to see a few new characters this season. If season two is as good as season one I have hope that WGN will commit to another year after this season. Great show.

What a horrible premier for Season 2, IMHO. Do Y’all think Newbies can comprehend most of it to become regulars to bring up the viewer “numbers”? Besides being herky-jerky (now there’s a term of the era) from one scene to the next, who could remember everything e.g. terms let alone dalliances, from more than a year ago. I kept asking “Did I miss an episode?”) And then, the words were snipped or muffled half the time…sure hope it’s not age! Really hope I get back in the groove or I’ll drop out. Anyone else?

How refreshing to have a worthwhile program on tv; am so fed up with all the reality crap. There is a group of us who follow this weekly and discuss each episode. One of our group is currently touring Arizona and Nevada and plans to visit the sites and bring back photos. We are planning on watching season 2 definitely.

Great you Folks are watching. Please tell that one of your group who is touring Arizona and Nevada that I hope they make it to New Mexico where most of the action actually took place!

I watched all episodes and quickly became addicted to this excellent series. One of the best shows in recent years. I hope it remains renewed. Often quality tv is not popular in ratings but something great needs to be available for folks not into reality tv shows which are boring.
