The ratings for the first season of Motive weren’t very good but ABC renewed it anyway (in part because they license it from Canada so it’s cheaper). Will they want a third season or will the series be cancelled instead? Stay tuned!
Motive revolves around a strong-willed Vancouver detective (Kristin Lehman) who’s also a single mom. At the start of each episode, viewers are shown the killer and victims. As the criminal investigation progresses, details of what led to the crime are revealed via flashbacks. The rest of the cast includes Louis Ferreira, Lauren Holly, Roger Cross, Brendan Penny, and Cameron Bright.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. 5/29/14 update: The show has been renewed for a third season in Canada.
6/2/15 update: ABC has dropped the series.

I have enjoy this series (Motive). My biggest complaint is the sound quality. It is very difficult to hear the dialogue between the characters. Whether they are indoors or outdoors it is difficult to hear what they are saying. It is not my television set. Whether it is the equipment they are using to record the sound or the lack of ability of the sound technicians, much is left to be desired when listening to this program. That is a shame. This show seems to take place in a strange TV City of no location. The acting is horrible and the stories are sappy and obvious, cheap cheap cheap

I never even knew this was on for a first season. I thought this was the first season but even so I still absolutely love this show. Definitely needs a third season. I mean come on it hasn’t even really begun yet. There is still plenty more that should and could happen with Vancouver and the sergeant guy. There is definitely lots of potential or her and Vega. Either way good show. DONT CANCEL IT………………………………
