canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Proof: TV Show Cancelled by TNT; No Season Two

by Trevor Kimball, September 24, 2015

Proof TV show on TNT: canceled, no season 2TNT has decided not to renew their Proof TV show for a second season. The life-after-death drama has been cancelled after one short season of 10 episodes.

On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) lost her son, saw her marriage end, and became estranged to her teenage daughter. Looking for purpose, Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.

Debuting in June, Proof got off to a slow start with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get better as the weeks progressed and were often worse. The season ended up averaging a 0.31 in the demo with 2.12 million viewers. It was one of the lowest-rated scripted shows on the cable channel.

What do you think? Did you like the Proof TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season?

Would certainly support this show if you brought it back TNT. It’s validating for many, and thought-provoking at the very least for others. The actors and writers do a great job of brining such a big social question to light. Bravo!! Would love another season!!!

We hope you reconsider and bring it back! Our neighbor died and came back after her motorcycle accident falling off a bridge. She has an amazing story! Let’s get with it TNT! Don’t cancel Rizzoli & Isles and bring back PROOF!

I love the show.Maybe the poor marketing of the show gave TNT the lowest reviews. Maybe if the Co. would expend a few thousands of dollars on this program, it could off have better reviews on the second season. TV viewers are sick and tired of the reality shows, killing, sex and cooking to mention some of the same day after day. Maybe if TNT would expend a few dollars less on Law and…. and invest that money on other shows maybe you would have a bigger hit with proof of evidence or any others been on review. People get… Read more »

Hope they reconsider and produce a second season. Perhaps they could partner with Amazon or Netflix and provide the show to members only.

it sucks that TNT canceled this show, along with Rizzoli & Isles, Proof was one of my favorites, I wish netflix would pick it up, Netflix is coming out with more and better shows than TNT these days, I heard this will be “Rizzoli & Isles” last year,, so not many reasons to watch TNT anymore and they had so many great shows at one time ago.

I was just checking my dvr to make sure that Proof was set to record whenever it was scheduled to resume and learned of TNT’s decision to cancel the series. What a fascinating subject and the stories got better each week! I am so disappointed and echo the comments of others who state that with all of the garbage of reality tv on, this show was something of substance with great writing and acting. Please listen to the people, TNT and give this show another chance!!

TNT made another “sell-out” decision to the ratings game. In the real world a series, especially TV, should never cause the audience to think.
“Great” job TNT

TNT give it another chance and advertise better. Acting was awesome and story line contagious and habit forming.
