TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

There is only a couple great shows that get better with every new season left on the air. One of the only reasons I watch the TNT network is for Rizzoli & Isles. Please don’t cancel this fabulous show.
this is a super show and like KAT said IT WORKS LEAVE IT ON some body wake up…
This is an awesome show! Great storylines, lovable and believable characters! Also, no foul language, nudity or gruesome violence, so I guess, this is what killed the show! It wasn’t trashy!!!
Why take a top quality show off? I finally find a show that our whole family loves and we all watch it, off the air. Please leave it on for as many seasons as the actors want to do it. It’s the best show around and our whole family watch and the wait for it to come back on drives us nuts. IT WORKS LEVE IT ON!!!!! PLEASE
I like the show is the best thing on tv right now. It’s is a family show and all our family makes sure they are home from activities for Rizzoli & Isles. Of course the network wants to cancel it. Its a great show and I have found that anything good they try to get rid of.
I love this show ,it shouldn’t end ! Please give it another season , very few good shows on anymore.
I have loved this show from the start. It is light, funny and focuses on “family”. They all protect each other and the two leading ladies are hysterical. I want to see more shows like this, not more singing shows or dateline nonsense. I already watch the news I want to escape for a little bit. PLEASE DONT CANCEL A PERFECTLY FINE SHOW!!!
Simply the best. Love this show. True entertainment
Love this show. Please reconsider and give this show another chance. Thanks forgiving us 7 great seasons.
Please Do Not Cancel this series!!! Why do shows get cancelled, when they are fantastic and the actors are superb?Again, please reconsider keeping Rizzoli and Isles on for more and even more seasons
i can’t believe the network is taking this show off the air
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!! This is one terrific show. I have watched since the beginning and it has only gotten better each season.
This has been a fantastic show. I don’t understand WHY high rated shows are cancelled and poorly rated shows are renewed. You MUST reconsider your decision to cancel this series. PLEASE!!
I love this show. I wait the whole off season for it to come back. PLEASE don’t cancel it. PLEASE reconsider!!!
Love this series. All great actors. Could TNT be persuaded to renew using public opinion/request? I certainly hope TNT takes these comments under consideration and will reverse their regrettable decision to cancel. SAD and SORRY!!!
