TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

What do you think? Do you like the Rizzoli & Isles TV show? Do you think it should end or continue for an eighth season?

One of the best shows on TV. Season for it was always to short! Can’t believe isn’t cancelled! Especially with some of the crap we are left to watch!
Absolutely love this show, so hearing it has been cancelled has me wondering what will replace it. Can’t stand the thought of the constant placement of any more so-called “Reality Shows” replacing the few good shows left on tv. Rizzoli and Isles was a pleasure to watch as it contained drama and resolution all in one (or more if it was a continuing story line) episode. The adult friendly format of the program was easy to follow without it feeling like the storyline was geared towards people with a 10 year olds mentality.
I love this show. Why is it that they are cancelling all the good shows and putting on so many stupid shows? I am so tired of all the reality shows and talent shows. It is bad enough when the world is so stupid that we have to watch so many stupid reality shows.
My husband and I love this show. I cannot for the life of me understand why a network would cancel such a great show. If not for this show, I wouldn’t watch TNT at all. No telling what kind of “reality show” (barf) will be on next. Probably something that is neither interesting nor family friendly.
This is exactly why I stopped watching tv. Every time there’s a really good show on that I like it gets cancelled. Once this show is done some am I with tv for good.
I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT I COULD SAY TO KEEP THIS SHOW ON THE AIR. MY HUSBAND AND I THINK THAT IT IS THE BEST SHOW ON TV. I LOVE THE WAY THE CHARACTERS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER AND THEIR HUMOR IS QUITE REFRESHING. THE CAST IS SO DOWN TO EARTH AND HUMANE. PLEASE RECONSIDER CANCELLING IT.
I think it’s an absolutely stupid idea to cancel one of the best shows on TV.
I love Rizzoli and Isles. it has no offensive language or unity which is a pleasure to watch. In that same category are Blue Bloods and Scorpion. Please don’ cancel these shows.
I can’t believe you would cancel Rizzoli and Isles. I’ve followed Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander’s careers for some time. There’s hardly anything on tv worth watching anymore. I don’t want to be in someone’s bedroom, or listen to offensive language. This program is amazing. Shame on you for canceling it. So sad
Don’t want to see these show end R& I, NOR MCrimes. They are enjoyable and there just too many reality shows that have taken over these types of shows. Look forward to every season and every episode of both shows. Please reconsider keeping BOTH! Avid TNT Fan.
I enjoy rizzoli and isles, I am very disappointed that it is ending. I look forward to this show comming on every season. Please keep it, it is a great show. I will miss it very much. Why? This is so wrong the show is one of the best.
I don’t understand why this show is ending. I look forward to seeing this show each week. Bummer!
I am so sorry to hear Rizzoli and Isles has been cancelled. Why? is it to much of a good clean show that can be watched by the entire family no matter what age. I am a senior citizen that has very few shows that I can watch and enjoy. You got it right on Major Crimes but you sure have it wrong on Rizzoli and Isles. I know this comment and all the others will fall on deaf ears and that is sad. Just know there are a lot of people out here that still like shows that are… Read more »
There are so few shows I look forward to every year, and they are dwindling fast. I won’t watch the reality crap that is taking over the airwaves. Two of my favorite shows are Rizzoli and Isles and Major Crimes. I love them both and don’t understand why Rizzoli and Isles would be cancelled when it is so popular. Both of these shows are two of the best on TV and I guarantee that whatever you replace Rizzoli and Isles with, I most likely won’t be watching it. After these two, only four other shows I really look forward to… Read more »
Please, please, please, do not cancel this fabulous show. It is one of my favorites I look forward to it all year long the spaces between the episodes are so far apart but always worth the wait. I love the show I look forward to it please rethink your decision. This is one of the brightest funniest cleverest detective shows out there. These two actresses, Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander and the rest of the cast are fabulous! this rivals NCIS in every way and that it injection of humor and the seriousness of the story to make it thoroughly… Read more »
